It is a three-in-one product: a real Bluetooth hands-free kit, a Smartphone in-car holder and a charging station. You just have to pair and dock your phone on it and you will enjoy unlimited use of your Smartphone: hands-free telephony, navigation, connected services What are the differences between the Parrot MINIKIT Smart and the Parrot MINIKIT Slim? While the Parrot MINIKIT Slim is only a hands-free kit and is dedicated to Bluetooth phones, the Parrot MINIKIT Smart is both a hands-free kit and a Smartphone holder. It is able to charge your device and is dedicated to latest generation Bluetooth Smartphones. It allows you to use your phone navigation application and other connected services. Why Smart? This device has been specially designed for Smartphones. It is also a smart device that is able to work with all brands of Bluetooth Smartphones, all mobile OS and all navigation apps (even free ones). What are the dimensions and weight of the Parrot The Parrot MINIKIT Smart measures 115x89x46mm (4.5x3.5x1.8 inches) and weighs 180gr (6.35 oz). 3 First use How do I turn on / turn off the Parrot Simply hold down the red button for 3 seconds to turn the device on or off. Does the Parrot MINIKIT Smart need to be installed by a professional? No, the Parrot MINIKIT Smart does not require professional installation. Just fix the suction mount on your windscreen or dashboard, adjust your Parrot MINIKIT Smart on the mount, and recharge the device. The Parrot MINIKIT Smart is ready to be used! Is the fixation of the Parrot MINIKIT Smart resistant? The Parrot MINIKIT Smart has been designed and tested in real conditions to support current car vibrations. We strongly recommend that you take time to clean your windscreen before you fix the suction cup. The cooling and heating cycle inside your vehicle may cause the suction cup to detach from the windscreen. Make sure the suction cup is properly fixed to the windscreen each time you use the Parrot MINIKIT Smart. How do I dock my phone on the Parrot Install your phone on the Parrot MINIKIT Smart by inserting its upper side first. Thanks to the spring, the installation is fast and easy. The foam is specially designed to help maintain your phone and protect it. How do I pair my phone with the Parrot The pairing process is only required once. From your Bluetooth Smartphone, search for Bluetooth peripherals. Select «MINIKIT Smart» and enter the «0000» PIN code if prompted to do so. The Parrot MINIKIT Smart says «Pairing successful». Depending on the model of your phone, the connection will then be automatic as soon as you enter your vehicle. You may be asked to confirm the automatic connection (on Android devices for instance). Check your phone user guide for more details about Bluetooth pairing and connection. Should I pair my phone each time I use the Parrot No. The pairing process is only required the first time you want to connect your phone to the Parrot MINIKIT Smart. The connection will then be automatic when you enter your vehicle. You may be asked to confirm the automatic connection after the first pairing (on Android devices for instance). The update of your phonebook will be done each time you connect your phone. What are the functions of the buttons of the Parrot Red button: Turn on / turn off the product, refuse an incoming call, end a call and exit menus Green button: Accept an incoming call, launch the voice recognition, switch to private mode during a call and validate menus Jog-wheel: Access menus, modify the volume during a call and validate menus What are the purposes of the USB and mini-usb plugs? The mini-usb plug is dedicated to the Parrot MINIKIT Smart charging. You can plug it to the 12V/24V cigar lighter of your car with the provided charger. The USB plug is devoted to phone recharging. You can plug your Smartphone to the Parrot MINIKIT Smart thanks to the provided cables (Apple, micro-usb or mini-usb) or use your own cables. The Parrot MINIKIT Smart must be plugged to the 12V car charger to charge the phone.

4 Compatibility Which phone brands are compatible with the Parrot The Parrot MINIKIT Smart is 100% Bluetooth compatible and works with all brands of Bluetooth Smartphones. Which mobile OS are compatible with the Parrot The Parrot MINIKIT Smart can work with all mobile OS (i.e. Android, Apple ios, Bada, BlackberryOS, Linux, Maemo, RIM, Symbian, Windows Mobile) Which navigation applications are compatible with the Parrot The Parrot MINIKIT Smart is compatible with virtually any navigation app. It works with all applications, even free ones. The vocal indications are transferred via Bluetooth, either on the SCO channel or through the A2DP profile. What are the minimum / maximum sizes of the phones to be docked on the Parrot The minimum size is 52mm and the maximum is 70mm. This allows the Parrot MINIKIT Smart to be used with a vast majority of Smartphones, even the ones with a phone cover. I have a mobile cover. Should I remove it before using my Smartphone with the Parrot In a vast majority of cases, you will not have to remove your cover to use the Parrot MINIKIT Smart with your phone. The device is designed to work with any cover: silicon, plastic, metal The only limitation is the size. Navigation Is the Parrot MINIKIT Smart a GPS? The Parrot MINIKIT Smart is not a GPS. It allows you to enjoy the use of your mobile phone equipped with navigation software and a GPS chip. What is the behavior of the Parrot MINIKIT Smart with my navigation application? The Parrot MINIKIT Smart will request data streaming from your phone thanks to Bluetooth. It will then be able to reproduce voice (calls or navigation instructions) through its loudspeaker. How is the sound of my navigation application relayed to the Parrot The sound is relayed by Bluetooth, even through the SCO channel or through A2DP. SCO is a synchronous (circuit-switched) connection for reserved bandwidth communications like voice. A2DP is a Bluetooth profile enabling the device to stream stereo-quality music. Having these two ways to transmit the navigation instructions allows the Parrot MINIKIT Smart to work with a vast majority of Smartphones. Can I control my navigation application via the Parrot No, you cannot technically control your application from the Parrot MINIKIT Smart. The Parrot MINIKIT Smart only exchanges data with your phone but does not take control over it. We strongly recommend that you stop your vehicle to enter your navigation addresses. I have an athermic windscreen in my car. Does it trouble GPS signal reception? This may happen. In the case of a bad GPS signal reception, move your Parrot MINIKIT Smart to another location, where the athermic windscreen is not tainted.

5 Telephony How can I make a call with a Parrot There are different ways to call a contact with your Parrot MINIKIT Smart. By pressing the green button, you can launch the voice recognition. Just say the name of your contact when prompted to. You can also check your phonebook thanks to the jog wheel and select the contact you want to call. You can still compose a number on your phone keyboard; the call will be transferred to the Parrot MINIKIT Smart. We strongly recommend that you do not compose a number on a keyboard while driving. Can I know who is calling when receiving a call through a Parrot If the contact is registered on the phone connected to the Parrot MINIKIT Smart, the name will be announced vocally by the Parrot MINIKIT Smart. Why Smart? This device has been specially designed for Smartphones. It is also a smart device that is able to work with all brands of Bluetooth Smartphones, all mobile OS and all navigation apps (even free ones). Do I have to record voice tags for all my contacts to use the voice recognition feature? No. The Parrot MINIKIT Smart comes equipped with a user-independent voice recognition feature, so you do not have to record voice tags. Just pronounce the name and the Parrot MINIKIT Smart will confirm the call. But if the kit does not understand a name or if you want to create a shortcut to a long name, you can record your own voice tags. I have several numbers for one contact (i.e. home, cell, office). How can I choose the number? If several numbers are associated to a contact, the Parrot MINIKIT Smart will ask you to confirm which number you want to call by pronouncing home, cell, office, etc. Just confirm by voice. When checking your phonebook with the jog wheel, you will have access to each number by clicking on the jog wheel. How many contacts can be stored in the Parrot MINIKIT Smart memory? 2000 contacts per paired phone can be stored in the Parrot MINIKIT Smart memory. You can store as much as contacts in total. I made some changes in my phonebook; do I have to change them manually in the Parrot If your Smartphone allows automatic phonebook synchronization (Bluetooth PBAP profile), the Parrot MINIKIT Smart actualizes the phonebook each time you turn it on and connect to your Smartphone. You do not have to do anything to have your phonebook updated on the Parrot MINIKIT Smart. Can I use my Smartphone s voice recognition feature instead of Parrot MINIKIT Smart s one? Yes, you can do it by deactivating the phonebook synchronization of your Smartphone. If the Parrot MINIKIT Smart has no contact synchronized in its phonebook, it will instinctively use the Smartphone s voice recognition. Can I manage my voic / vocal servers with the Parrot Yes. During a call to a vocal server, simply press the jog wheel to access the DTMF functions. Then, just move the jog wheel right or left to choose the numbers and press the jog wheel to confirm each. Does the Parrot MINIKIT Smart manage dual calls? Yes. During a conversation on the Parrot MINIKIT Smart, you will be informed of incoming calls. Choose to take the call by pressing the green button or reject it by pressing the red button. Switch between two calls by pressing the green button....

6 Can I switch a call from the Parrot MINIKIT Smart to my cell phone for privacy? Yes. At any moment of your conversation, press the green button to transfer the call from the Parrot MINIKIT Smart to your cell phone. Press again the green button to get your conversation back on the Parrot MINIKIT Smart. Can I call back the last dialed number? Yes, just hold down the green button for 2 seconds to redial the last number. Battery management / Charging behavior Does the Parrot MINIKIT Smart have a standalone battery? Yes, contrary to all its competitors, the Parrot MINIKIT Smart has a standalone battery and can work without being plugged to the 12V cigar lighter. How long does the battery last? The battery can last up to 10 hours in conversation and 10 days in standby mode. How do I know the Parrot MINIKIT Smart battery is low? 15 minutes before turning off, the Parrot MINIKIT Smart will emit beeps to announce that battery is low. It will then beep every minute until you recharge it. The LED will also blink. How can I recharge the Parrot There is a mini-usb plug on the Parrot MINIKIT Smart for recharging purpose. Simply connect to your 12V/24V cigar lighter with the cable and adapter provided to recharge the battery. How long is the charging time? Charging is about to 2 hours. When the Parrot MINIKIT Smart is fully charged, the charging LED will turn off. Fully charge the battery before first use. Can I recharge my phone on the Parrot Yes if your phone can be charged via USB. Simply plug your phone on the USB plug of the Parrot MINIKIT Smart with the appropriate cable to recharge it. The Parrot MINIKIT Smart must be simultaneously plugged to the 12V car charger to recharge the phone.

7 Sound / Audio Bluetooth What is the power of the loudspeaker? The loudspeaker is 2W. You can adjust the volume of your conversations / navigation with the jog wheel. What is the Bluetooth version of the Parrot MINIKIT Smart? The Parrot MINIKIT Smart has the latest Bluetooth version, i.e EDR. The Parrot MINIKIT Smart features the Bluetooth stereo (A2DP) profile. Can I stream music from my phone? Technically you could, but the Parrot MINIKIT Smart was not designed for music streaming. The purpose of the A2DP on this device is to transfer vocal indications from the navigation app. Can I change the volume of the Parrot Yes, you can change the volume settings, either for the Parrot MINIKIT Smart properly or for the conversations. The settings are saved for next uses. What are the advantages of the extractible microphone? Even if the Parrot MINIKIT Smart s microphone can be used as it is, you will obtain the best results by extracting it and putting it on your sun visor or windscreen. What is the best recommended position for the microphone? The microphone should be placed in the axis of the driver s mouth, at approximately 60cm. The best possible location for the microphone is near the rear-view mirror or on the sun visor. Make sure the microphone is not exposed to the air stream from air vents. Does the Parrot MINIKIT Smart reduce the background noise during the calls? Yes. Parrot has been working on signal processing for 15 years. All Parrot car products feature state-of-the-art noise reduction and echo cancellation features. What are the Bluetooth profiles featured by the Parrot MINIKIT Smart and what is their purpose? The Parrot MINIKIT Smart features HFP profile for hands-free purposes. It also features PBAP profile for automatic phonebook synchronization and A2DP for navigation instructions audio streaming. How many phones can be paired with the Parrot MINIKIT Smart via Bluetooth? You can pair up to ten phones to the Parrot MINIKIT Smart. Only one phone can be connected at a time with the Parrot MINIKIT Smart. Connection will be done by last connection order if two phones are near the Parrot MINIKIT Smart. What happens if I want to pair an eleventh phone to the Parrot You will have to delete previous pairings to pair another phone. To do so, press simultaneously the jog wheel and the red buttons of the Parrot MINIKIT Smart. This procedure will erase all the memory. Can two phones be connected at the same time with the Parrot You will be able to connect only one phone at a time.

8 Troubleshooting The Parrot MINIKIT Smart seems to be frozen. What can I do? If it seems that you cannot do anything, simply press the reset button under the product (next to the charging LED) for a few seconds. The kit does not seem to work with my phone. Why? Make sure your phone is compatible with the Parrot MINIKIT Smart. To do so, refer to the compatibility list of the Parrot MINIKIT Smart available on our website in the Support & Downloads section. If your phone is compatible with the Parrot MINIKIT Smart, make sure you have the latest software version on your Parrot MINIKIT Smart. My phone did not transfer my contacts to the Parrot MINIKIT Smart. What can I do? The Parrot MINIKIT Smart will only download contacts stored on the phone s memory. If your contacts are on the SIM card, copy them to your phone s memory. Some phones do not feature PBAP profile allowing automatic phonebook synchronization but do have Object Push. This will allow you to send contacts manually. I cannot turn the Parrot MINIKIT Smart off. What can I do? You can force the Parrot MINIKIT Smart to turn off by pressing the reset button. I hear bursts when I am on a call. Why and how can I resolve this? In very specific cases, some GSM bursts may be audible on the Parrot MINIKIT Smart. The case has been reported ONLY with the iphone 4G as for now. Explanations: - The iphone 4G has a large GSM antenna that is located all around inside the product - The Parrot MINIKIT Smart has a large metal plate located at the front side of the cradle that isolates the electronic parts from the GSM antennas - When the 3G signal is weak or inexistent, the iphone 4 switches in Edge mode and 900MHz band (instead of 1800 MHz) - Then the iphone 4G increases its GSM emission, and the large metal plate cannot stop all the GSM signal - In this case, some GSM bursts may be audible by the distant caller Solution: The volume of the bursts can be reduced by moving slightly the iphone 4G (1 or 2 cm) on the left of the Parrot MINIKIT Smart. The Parrot MINIKIT Smart does not understand the name of my contact when I launch the voice recognition. What can I do? You can either try to reverse the order Name Surname (depending on how your phonebook is set) or record you own voice tag. To record a voice tag, select the voice tags menu with the jog wheel then follow the instructions to choose the contact and record your voice tag. How can I erase the memory of the Parrot MINIKIT Smart? Hold down both the jog wheel and the red button for 5 seconds to erase the memory. All pairings and phonebooks will be erased.
