2 COMMONWEALTH BANk SOUTHERN STARS AT THE ICC WORLD TWENTY WINNING SQUAD About the ICC World Twenty20 The Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars enter the tournament as reigning title holders and will be looking to be the first team to win back-to-back titles. The women s group stage will be based in Galle with matches being played at Galle International Stadium. As with previous years the semi-finals and Finals will be played as double headers concurrently with the men s stages of competition at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The eight nations competing are split into two groups with 12 matches played in the pool stages and the top two teams from each group qualifying for the semi-finals. Viewers at home will have the opportunity to catch the semifinals and Final live on Fox Sports (check local listings) via host broadcaster ESPN STAR SPORTS. Tournament History In 2009, the first ever women s World Twenty20 was held alongside the men s event, with double headers of matches played at the semi-finals and Final stage. Host country England won the inaugural World Women s Twenty20. The Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars head into Sri Lanka as the defending champions having beaten New Zealand in a thrilling 2010 Final in the West Indies by three runs. I ve loved being a part of the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars for the past decade. My identical twin sister Kate and I are the first identical twins to play cricket for Australia. When I m not on the cricket field you can find me outdoors either surfing, fishing, or mountain biking. One run in the 2011/12 Women s National Cricket League final between NSW and Victoria. World series in Lincoln, New Zealand during 2002/03 cricket season. Relatives who have represented your country in cricket before? Kate Blackwell, identical twin sister. Relatives who have excelled in any other sport before and the level achieved? Digger Gibbs (Grandfather) and Daryl Gibbs (Uncle) both represented Australia in clay target shooting. Belinda Clark - great captain, impeccable batting technique and she holds the world record for highest score in an ODI. Winning the 2010 ICC World Twenty20 in Barbados. SCG - Some great memories of winning Women s National Cricket League titles for NSW and celebrating in the change rooms. The rooms have remained virtually unchanged since the time The Don sat in them. 4 27 Jessica CAMERON Soggy. I bowled a ball over the nets when I was in under 12s and went in with socks and shoes still on and came out all Soggy. I first starting playing cricket when I was seven. Represented Victoria in all under age teams. When I m not at cricket I like to relax with friends and family. I also play AFL footy when I can. I work as a spare parts interpreter at Werribee Nissan. I was first selected for the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars in 2009 and currently am still in the squad. Made 50 in the T20 final against NSW, which we won. 2006, Under 23s against New Zealand. Michael Hussey because of his determination and presence at the crease. Playing for Australia at Lords. 5 15 SARAH COYTE 8 Coytie because I actually don t have a nickname as such. I ve played cricket for 11 years, thanks to my brothers and my dad. I have an addiction to ASICS shoes. Love to play golf, hang with my friends and family when I don t have cricket and I love long distance running. Taking four wickets in the Women s National Cricket League Final which our team won. 2011, in New Zealand. Relatives who have represented your country in cricket before? My brother, Scott toured India and Bangladesh in 2004 with the Australian U19 team. Relatives who have excelled in any other sport before and the level achieved(list name of relative and relation to you)? My brothers, Adam and Scott both play for the Sydney Thunder. Scott has also in past seasons been a contracted NSW Speed player. Ricky Ponting, I love the way he plays the game. He s smart, backs his own ability and his teammates. Playing my first Test match against England and regaining the Ashes. DOB: 30/03/1991, Camden Adelaide Oval everything about that oval gets me excited to play there. 6 28 LAUREN EBSARY 10 Beep - when I was little my uncle used to press on my nose and go beep and it just stuck, I even went to kindy and thought that was my real name! I love loads of sports and cricket is the one I have been fortunate enough to have the most success in. I especially love anything in the outdoors. A recent trip to Spain traveling the countryside on motorbikes and with only a tent and backpack is one of my most favorite holidays so far. 51 not out against Victoria in an Indian series at home in Australia. Relatives who have excelled in any other sport before and the level achieved? My sister was very talented as a young girl throughout high school and was chosen to represent Australia at the Junior Athletics Champs in America, as well as representing Australia in Junior Netball, so I had a pretty competitive upbringing but in a good way. It was Andrew Symonds, I used to love watching him in the field, strong, athletic, and dominant, and any given moment he could turn the game. Last season in domestic cricket we were down in Tasmania and I scored my first 100, that was very special and around my old team mates was a real buzz that day. DOB: 15/03/1983, Snowtown Adelaide Oval, it is just absolutely magic out there, the grass is pristine, the backdrop can t get any better with the cathedral and the grass mounds. 7 19 JODIE FIELDS Jako because I run like a Jack Russell Terrier! I grew up playing junior boys cricket in Toowoomba when I was about eight, then moved to Brisbane to attend university after high school and further my cricket goals. I play for Western Suburbs Cricket Club in Brisbane. I am an identical twin from a family of seven who enjoys keeping fit, going to the gym, watching movies, walking, cooking when time permits and trying out new cafes and restaurants. I also love a good latte! Top dismissals in Women s National Cricket League tournament First match was a Test match against India at Adelaide Oval. I really enjoyed the experience! Have you represented your country in any other sport before? When and where? No, but I wish I was a professional tennis player travelling the world playing tournaments like Wimbledon and the US Open! Michael Bevan, I loved watching his gutsy style of play, he was always a consistent batsman and was particularly reliable during tough situations. Captaining my country in an Ashes Series and scoring my first century for Australia at Worcestershire in Adelaide Oval great batting wicket and just love the atmosphere of the place. Also love my home domestic ground, Allan Border Field! State: Queensland To win the World ICC World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka with the Australia team, win the Women s World Cup in India in February 2013 and win a Ruth Preddy Cup with the Queensland Fire. 8 7 RACHaEL HAYNES Des I grew up playing cricket in my backyard with family and friends. I originally started my career in Victoria before relocating to NSW. I love heading to the beach and catching up with family and friends when I have some downtime. 156 in Women s National Cricket League domestic Final v Victoria Ashes Series. 9 10 ALYSSA HEALY Midge Dad gave it to me when I was little, it just stuck! I started playing cricket down at the local park when I was seven and have continued on ever since! Outside cricket I study Marine Biology at university and play some hockey. I enjoy time at home on the couch but also spending time with friends! 10 9 JULIE HUNTER DOB: 15/03/1984, Box Hill State: Victoria Randall striking resemblance to Randall Boggs, the lizard thing from Monsters Inc. Sniper from my surname being Hunter. Started playing backyard cricket best bowling figures were 6/0 from 1! Ran out of siblings willing to play after that so joined a club. I train in winter with the MUGARS footy team. I m studying PE Teaching and Work for InteractSport. My head is so small it falls through the hole in the physio table! 2/39 off eight overs at the Women s National Cricket League Final v NSW on 14th Jan Feb , ODI v New Zealand at Junction Oval, Australia Jane Franklin because of the way she went about things. She has a big team focus, always doing the little things right and has a big passion. 4/15 T20 Australia v India March 23, MCG, because its home. I grew up watching some of the world s biggest events there so to be playing on it is a massive privilege. 11 21 JESS JONASSEN JJ the initials of my first and last name. Jono the beginning of my last name. I grew up in country Queensland playing cricket with the boys. I moved to Brisbane when I finished school to study a Law degree and continue cricket pursuits. Away from cricket I study, play guitar, go to the beach and catch up with friends. I love a good coffee. 20th January 2012 Rosebowl Series v NZ Mike Hussey because of the way he builds an innings and he is also a great fielder. My debut for Australia is something I will never forget. Allan Border Field, because it s my home ground for my domestic team and it provides a little something for both bat and ball. 12 17 MEG LANNING DOB: 25/03/1992, Singapore State: Victoria Fui - There is a rugby league player called Fui Fui Moi Moi and as my middle name is Moira - I then got Fui. I began playing my cricket in NSW before moving to Victoria at the age of 12. I also enjoy playing hockey throughout the winter to help keep me fit, and I love to cook desserts. December 2010 Ricky Ponting because he is always aggressive and looking to score no matter what the situation. Scoring 104* against England in my 2nd ODI. Adelaide Oval because it s a true cricket ground and has a great atmosphere. 13 25 ERIN OSBORNE Oz famous last name links with rockstar Ozzie Osbourne. I started playing cricket in the backyard with my dad and two older brothers, Sean and Troy. I am currently completing a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science (Clinical Exercise Physiology) at University of New England, Armidale, whilst working at South Sydney Sports Medicine. Sport is a huge part of my life and something that I have been involved in since I was little. I feel extremely fortunate to have had some wonderful experiences and opportunities as a result of playing sport, and it has certainly shaped my life and me as a person. Football (Soccer) - Debut: Hong Kong August Relatives who have excelled in any other sport before and the level achieved? Mark Perry (Father) - Australian Squash Representative. Michael Hussey - for the wonderful passion and enthusiasm he exudes for the game. He is the epitome of hard work and desire as well as tremendously skilled. Winning the 2010 ICC World Twenty20 and regaining the Ashes in 2011 with the Australian Women s Team. State: NSW Sydney Cricket Ground - it s my home ground and one which is steeped richly in tradition. It s always such a thrill to sit in the same dressing room and play on the same ground as many incredibly wonderful players. 15 6 LEAH POULTON Poultsy, Turtle. I grew up in Newcastle NSW playing backyard cricket with my dad and sister. I am a former Australian U19 and U23 captain. I have been a member of the Australian side for the past six years. Outside of cricket I work as a PE teacher and spend any free time at the beach. Won the Women s National Cricket League Final. v NZ, Rosebowl Mark Waugh for his elegance at the crease. Winning the ICC World Twenty20 in the West Indies DOB: 27/02/1984, Newcastle State: NSW Playing role: Right-hand bat SCG, because it s my home ground for the NSW Breakers. To retire knowing I achieved everything I was capable of for myself and the team

16 12 LISA STHALEKAR DOB: 13/08/1979, India State: NSW Shaker because there have been so many mispronunciations of my name the girls were one day mucking around and stumbled on this one it has just stuck ever since. I started playing cricket with the West Pennant Hill/Cherrybrook U10 boys. I played a number of sports growing up tennis, softball, touch footy and indoor cricket. Won the Women s National Cricket League trophy scoring 70 odds runs and picking up 3 wickets. 2001, v England. Sachin Tendulkar because he has adapted his game to last a couple of decades, small in stature, extremely successful and I just love watching him bat like most cricketers. Winning the ICC Women s World Cup in 2005 (South Africa) and the 2010 ICC World Twenty20 (West Indies). SCG, because it is the home of cricket for me. The Members and Ladies pavilions are beautiful. 17 2012 SUPPORT STAfF ICC WOMEN S WORLD TWENTY GROUPS Cathryn Fitzpatrick Coach Stuart Law Assistant Coach Former Australian fast bowler, Cathryn Fitzpatrick comes in to coach the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars with a wealth of playing knowledge and experience. Former Australian and Queensland batsman, Stuart Law has recently returned to Australia to work at the Cricket Australia Centre of Excellence after stints coaching overseas. Most recently, Law was coach of Bangladesh and before that was working with Sri Lanka. In his new role as COE High Performance Coach. Law has recently returned from coaching the Australian U19 side to the Final of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in Queensland. In his playing days, Law played 54 ODIs for Australia averaging 52, while he also played a sole Test against Sri Lanka at the WACA in Following involvement as the Assistant Coach for three seasons this is Fitzpatrick s first campaign at the helm of the Australian team. The coach of the Victorian Spirit since she has taken the side to back-to-back National T20 titles the past three seasons. Cathryn Fitzpatrick Coach A veteran of 109 ODIs and 13 Tests for her country, Fitzpatrick was regarded as the fastest female bowler in the world, regularly bowling 125 km/h. She was an integral part of a successful Australian team and retired from international cricket in 2007 with an impressive 180 and 60 wickets in ODIs and Test matches respectively.
