2 Tour Details: Christopher Newport University Chamber Choir Dr. Lauren Fowler, Director Performance Tour of Italy and Austria 11 Days/9 Nights, February 28 March 10, 2015 Itinerary #6, Edition #1 Date of this Proposal: January 6, 2015 DEPART FROM DULLES AIRPORT Saturday, February 28, 2015 We depart at 6:05pm on Saturday, February 28, flying overnight to Amsterdam, then connecting to Munich (see air details at the end of the itinerary). Meals: Dinner and breakfast included as part of the overnight flight MUNICH, GERMANY and SALZBURG, AUSTRIA Sunday, March 1, 2015 Our flight arrives into Munich at 10:50am, we collect our luggage, meet our tour manager and load the waiting motorcoach. We drive to Salzburg (2 hours), with stop for lunch en route. Check into the hotel, with dinner together this evening. Meals: Dinner provided SALZBURG, AUSTRIA Monday, March 2, 2015 This morning we begin with a visit to the inner music sanctum of the Salzburg Cathedral. We have a 10:00am Workshop with the Kappelmeister Dr. Janos Czifra. We conclude the workshop with an Informal Concert in the Cathedral. After lunch we have a Guided Tour of Salzburg, including a visit to the Mozart Birth House Museum. Dinner independent this evening. MUNICH, GERMANY and OVERNIGHT TRAIN Tuesday, March 3, 2015 Check out of the hotel and depart for Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial. After our visit, we transfer into Munich city center, with free time for exploring and an independent lunch (you will want to take some time to secure some basic provisions for the overnight train pretzels for breakfast, etc). We have a late afternoon Service Participation (St. Michaels Church tbc). Dinner together, then transfer to the train station to board our overnight train to Rome, Italy (Train 485 departs at 9:08pm). ROME, ITALY Wednesday, March 4, 2015 The train arrives into Rome at 9:22am. We load the motorcoach and have a bit of free time to explore and have lunch before our afternoon Guided Tour. We visit the Coliseum and the nearby Pantheon before transferring to the hotel and checking in. Dinner provided.

3 ROME, ITALY Thursday, March 5, 2015 The entire day is kept free for you to explore today. We have included a transport ticket for the Metro and Bus system. Dinner independent this evening. ROME, ITALY Friday, March 6, 2015 We get up early this morning, transferring to the Vatican for our Guided Tour of the Vatican Museums, including the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter s Basilica. After free time for lunch in the area, we walk together to nearby Castel San Angelo (entrance included). We visit this iconic musical and historic site, then return to the Vatican to prepare for our 5:00pm Service Participation in St. Peter s Basilica. Dinner provided after the performance, including a walk past the Trevi Fountain, ensuring our return trip to Rome! TRAIN TO VENICE Saturday, March 7, 2015 After breakfast we check out of the hotel and depart for the train station. Our train departs at 9:25am, arriving into Venice at 1:00pm (we are traveling on the Italo train, built by Ferrari!). Upon arrival in Venice we have a private transfer by boat to our home for the next 3 nights, the Don Orione Artiginelli. Once the dormitory for orphan boys, this centrally located religious institute allows us to eat, sleep, walk and talk like a local! We walk together this afternoon to Piazza San Marco, and we have a Service Participation at 6:45pm in the Basilica San Marco (the birthplace of choral music!). Dinner independent this evening. VENICE, ITALY Sunday, March 8, 2015 We have a transport pass for you to utilize for the next two days, allowing you to explore all parts of Venice. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon to prepare this evening s Concert (Chiesa San Gerenimo tbc). Reception following the concert. Meals: Breakfast and post-concert Reception provided. VENICE, ITALY Monday, March 9, 2015 The transport pass will allow you to explore the far areas of the Veneto, including the Lido, and Murano and Burano islands. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon, as we have our Farewell Banquet this evening. RETURN TO THE USA Tuesday, March 10, 2015 We transfer to the airport by boat (how cool is that!), checking in for our return home. Our 10:00am flight to Paris connects this afternoon into Washington Dulles, arriving at 5:20pm. Welcome Home!
