2 For its 6th annual edition, the Young FIS Citizen International Cup is again celebrating, amongst our young city skiers, the taste of effort, surpassing oneself, and conviviality. This race owes its success, which is being confirmed year on year, to the various elements which provide all the richness of our sport. First, the competition will gather more than 200 contestants, boys and girls from 11 to 15 years old over 4 days, that will test their skills in 4 skiing disciplines: Super Giant Slalom, Giant Slalom, Super combined and Slalom. Then, an idyllic setting: the Ubaye Valley with its wide range of ski resorts and its multifacetted history. Finally, of. course, the expertise. 100 voluntary members of the main Alpes/Provence Citizen Clubs devote themselves entirely, with the support of our Sports Federation, to organizing this event in the best way possible. The Young Citizens International Cup, by appealing to the under-13 and the junior (13-15) competitors, selected from various national championships, is in keeping with the new system implemented by the French Skiing Federation to develop all the circuits and in particular, those orientated towards younger competitors, whatever their level. I believe it is primordial that we, as Club managers, organizers, or trainers, promote together - with the support of the local communities that I thank for their implication - the sporting values such as loyalty, solidarity, courtesy and respect of rules. It is these values, widely shared by the competitors, the volunteers and the public, which add even more to the quality of the Young Citizens International Cup. 3 Welcome to the Ubaye valley A protected valley Did you say station? We have got some Pra Loup, one of the largest French stations, with 180 km of skiing tracks. Sauze Super Sauze, a village station village which stretches out from one hamlet to the other. Sainte-Anne la Condamine, the highest, at an altitude of 1800 m, and the smallest of our stations. In the heart of the Ubaye valley, less than 10 mn from Pra Loup and Sauze Super Sauze, Barcelonnette is the city on the mountain, but not just that. Higher, in the direction of the high valley, the village Jausiers is the entry point to the many Nordic areas. You have just entered a unique territory, a real concentration of all mountain massifs. 4 L Espace Lumière, At the heart of a protected valley with an exceptional setting, a huge skiable area of 180 km, 50 ski lifts and 83 tracks, altitude between 1600 and 2700 m. The Ski Académie s training station. Station of Christel Pascal, twice Slalom vice world champion. A stone s throw from the small town of Barcelonnette, Sauze Super Sauze has retained its village spirit. Nestled at the foothills of Chapeau de Gendarme, flooded by the southern sun, the station is a meeting point for winter sports lovers. A 65 km skiable area, with 20 ski lifts and 3 chair lifts. 8 REGULATIONS ON THE 6th INTERNATIONAL YOUNG CITY DWELLERS CUP ARTICLE 1: This competition is meant for boys and girls born in the following years: , who are members of any of the federations listed by the International Ski Federation. ARTICLE 2: This competition shall take place in form of 4 races - a Super Giant, and a Giant, a Combi Race (SL/GS form in 2 runs) and a Slalom the rules of which must be compliant with the existing FIS regulation on youth races. ARTICLE 3: The competitors' entire equipment must be in accordance with RIS regulations, in particular, pertaining to back protection, and helmets are obligatory. The skis and shoes shall have the following characteristics: Super G for the K2 juniors ( ) minimum length: 175 cm, minimum radius: 27 m Giant for K1 juniors (aged 10 11) ( ) minimum radius: 14 m Giant for K2 juniors ( ) minimum radius: 17 m Slalom for K1 and K2 minimum length: 130 cm Maximum height of skis + plaques for all disciplines 50 mm maximum Shoe sole thickness for K1 and K2 43 mm maximum ARTICLE 4: These competitions shall lead to a separate classification for each category: juniors (aged 10 11) juniors, boys and girls. The first three from each of the four categories shall be given a prize. At the end of all the competitions the nations shall be ranked according to the total race points of each nation's best skiers in each race and in each category. Skiers registered within the framework of "double quota" shall not be taken into account in this ranking. A Nations Cup shall be given to the nation with the highest number of points. ARTICLE 5: The participation quota shall be limited to 2 boys and 2 girls per age year, i.e. a maximum of 16 skiers per nation. Only the skiers included in this quota may participate in the nations trophy competitions. Their race points shall then be taken into account. The organising nation must declare the 16 skiers representing it, on a separate registration list. ARTICLE 6: Two groups shall be formed in each category: a group of skiers participating in the International Cup, and a group of "double quota" skiers not qualified for this cup in the organiser nation. Lots shall be drawn at random for the first run and for each category: juniors (aged 10 11) juniors, boys and girls. The groups of participants in the International Cup shall leave before the double quota group from the organiser nation. Girls shall leave before the boys, respecting the categories. The start order for the 2nd run the best 30 shall start in the reverse order of their ranking from the 1st run. Depending on the number of competitors and/or time difference, the DT may bring down this number to the best 15. ARTICLE 7: The organiser undertakes to provide each nation with the necessary registration documents. These documents shall be sent latest 60 days before the competition, by mail to the head of CIT FIS committee in each nation, and to each nation's federation. The organiser also undertakes to coordinate the accommodation of the nations present, and to apply the rate recommended in the existing international regulations. Registration fees shall be paid and fixed in accordance with the FIS CIT regulation (ALWC / Point 7). ARTICLE 8: The International Cup competitions refer to the regulations on international skiing competitions applied by FIS(RIS), especially on Alpine competitions for children (Art.608 of RIS).
