We do not endorse any of the properties. We strongly recommend that you visit the accommodations before finally reserving a room or apartment. Prices are those quoted when we called or checked online and are not guaranteed by the Housing Office. Short-term Housing -Adams Inn has 26 rooms, with laundry facilities, high speed Internet access, and a complimentary continental breakfast. Adams Inn is close to Safeway, and a ten minute walk from the Woodley Park Metro station. 2 -Christmas International House (CIH) is a Christian organization that arranges for international students to spend time with volunteer host families for two weeks at Christmas time, from December 19 to January 2. CIH families throughout the U.S. provide room and board free of charge. Students pay a $100 registration fee and round trip transportation with applications received on or before November 1 ($125 for couples or families). Afterwards, students pay a $150 registration fee ($175 for couples or families). Applications are available at their web site ( and will be accepted between October 1 st and November 22 nd or until all programs are full. CIH is not able to place everyone, so it is best to apply early. Each room has a bed and a telephone. There is a sitting area in the basement and a washer/dryer available. Both buildings are located by Woodley Park Metro stop. Rates vary with size of rooms, and the season. Prices in the winter will be lower for the daily rates. 3 -International Guest House is a non-profit house maintained by the Mennonite Church to provide temporary, affordable housing. Each room is shared and has two (sometimes three) single beds. Guests use communal bathrooms. A continental breakfast is included in the room rates but guests also have kitchen privileges with a refrigerator and a microwave. There are no laundry facilities available. There is an 11:00 P.M. curfew and no smoking or alcohol in the house. There is a social tea at 9:00 P.M. By public transportation, you must go to Metro Center and exit at 11th and G Streets. Transfer to the Silver Spring bus S2 or S4 to Kennedy Street. Kennedy Street is 4.5 miles north of the White House. It is located close to the White House, FBI, Smithsonian, and US Capitol with convenient access to the bus and metro.
