DV Cassette Optional - USB / Firewire cable Switching on Recommend: Using mains power at all times where possible to prevent recording to fail due to battery power loss If using mains power: A. B. C. Connect power cables to power adapter Connect plug to power source Connect power to back of video camera by sliding connector (looks like a slim battery) upward until it both terminals click together If using battery: 2

3 A. Connect battery at back of video camera by sliding it upward until both terminals click together Press and slide power button at top/ back of video camera to your right Note: If battery power level is low, charge it (see 'Charging battery') 3

4 To release mains/ battery power from video camera, slide battery release button at bottom of video camera to side and remove mains power connector/ battery 4

5 Inserting cassette 2. Slide 'Open/Eject' lever at top of video camera up and right Open cassette drawer cover until it clicks (internal cassette holder will automatically pop up) 3. Insert DV cassette (with arrow facing down and wheels facing into video camera internal cassette holder) 4. Squeeze internal cassette holder together to close (it will automatically go down) 5

6 5. Close outer cassette drawer cover until it clicks Recording A. B If using LCD display monitor at side of video camera, open it outward If using Optical view finder at back of video camera, pull it outward (make sure LCD display monitor is closed) Turn mode dial at back of video camera to select 'tape recording mode' (lens shutter will automatically open) Set record mode by pressing 'Menu' button at back of video camera Push joystick at back of video camera in to display 'basic menu' 6

Change record speed and record aspect by moving joy stick down/ up/ left/ right and pushing it in to select your preference Recommend record speed; SP and record aspect; 16:9 (widescreen) SP = Short Play (60mins recording time), LP = Long Play (90mins recording time) 5. Press 'Menu' button to exit 7

8 6. Press record start/ stop button at back of video camera to record 7. Use Zoom lever at top of video camera to zoom in and out To change focus use the 'Focus' lever at side of video camera. Press it down twice to select 'manual focus' mode. Use the joystick to alter focus 8

9 To stop recording press record start/ stop button Playback A. B. If using LCD display monitor, open it outward If using Optical view finder, pull it outward (make sure LCD display monitor is closed) 9

Turn mode dial to select 'tape playback mode' (lens shutter will automatically close) Move joystick up/ down/ left/ right to play/ pause, rewind, fast-forward or stop playback To playback on TV 2. Connect AV cable to video camera Connect AV cable to TV using either Yellow or black and white/ red connectors AV connections: Yellow = standard video Black = super-video White = left audio 10

11 Red = right audio Transferring Turn on the video camera (see 'Switching on') Turn mode dial to 'tape playback mode' (see 'Playback') Connect either USB or Firewire (DV) cable at side of video camera Connect either USB or Firewire (DV) cable to computer Use a video editing programme to capture and edit recorded material such as Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, Windows Movie Maker or imovie 11

12 Charging battery Connect mains power cable and adapter Note: do not connect power cable which connects adapter to video camera 2. Attach battery to power adapter by sliding battery until both terminals click together 3.
