1 Home & Family Arts Department Chair: Chris Duncan, Family & Consumer Science Agent, (502) Premiums: Premium money offered Closed Exhibits: Oldham County residents only Rules and Regulations: 1. Premium money in all classes will be: First - $6, Second - $4, Third - $2 2. A sweepstakes award, based on a point system, will be given to the top Junior, Senior, and Open exhibitor within the total Home & Family Arts Department. 3. Every exhibitor must fill out an entry form listing name, address, and all entries. Entry forms are available at the Oldham County Extension Office located at 1815 North Highway 393 in Buckner. 4. Any item entered in the Home & Family Arts Department must be: A. Handmade B. Entirely the work of the person whose name in which it is entered. C. Made since the 2015 Oldham County Fair (except in the Wine Category, where state rules apply) 5. Exhibits for textile and hobby classes as well as non-perishable food items in culinary classes may be entered on Monday, July 25 between the hours of 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. at the Oldham County Extension Office. For easier entry, early entry tags are available after July 1 at the extension office. These tags may be filled out and attached to each item prior to entry on the above date. Entries will be judged on Tuesday, July Perishable items in the culinary classes may be entered on Monday, August 1 from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Early tags are available for these as well. 7. All professional work is banned from this department. Anyone who derives the major part of their income from this type of work being exhibited is considered a professional. 8. All canned items must be in standard canning jars with metal lids and rings. Jars with rusty lids, rusty rings, or broken seals will be disqualified. 9. All baked goods should be on a substantial paper plate covered with clear plastic wrap or clear plastic zip lock bag. A. Baked good quantities: ½ loaf of bread, 4 rolls/muffins, ½ of a cake, 6 cookies, 6 brownies, 4 cupcakes, 6 pieces of candy B. No mixes unless specified in class. 10. An exhibitor may have only one (1) entry per class. 11. Only finished articles may be entered. 12. Soiled articles will not be accepted. 13. Where there is only one exhibitor in a class, 1 st prize, merited, will be awarded. 14. Where there is competition, all prizes may be awarded as far as there are worthy entries. 15. Where entries are not worthy of 1 st prize, judges may at their discretion award a prize of such grade as the article deserves. Any article not up to standard in the class in which it is exhibited can be ruled out by the judges. 16. Exhibits must be signed out by ticket from person in charge between the hours of noon and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 2. Any article not claimed by 2:00 p.m. will be properly disposed of by the Oldham County Fair Association (OCFA). OCFA is not responsible for entries, ribbons, or premiums not picked up. 17. There will be Junior and Senior Divisions within this department. Juniors must be 6-18 years old by July 1, Seniors must be 62 years or older as of July 1, 2016.

2 18. Exhibits in the Junior and Senior Divisions will be judged separately on their own merit. 19. The management will use the utmost care to see that no damage or loss occurs but will not be responsible in case of loss or damage. 20. All exhibitors must be Oldham County residents or members of the Oldham County Extension Homemakers. 21. Recognized holidays include all federally recognized holidays as well as: A.
