2 LIVING CLASSROOMS FOUNDATION CORPORATE OVERVIEW The Living Classrooms Foundation is a non-profit organization, operated for the benefit of the community at large, providing hands-on education and job skills training for students from diverse backgrounds, with a special emphasis on serving at-risk youth. The Foundation uses maritime settings, community revitalization projects and other challenging learning environments, and a low staff to student ration. Our learning by doing education programs emphasize the applied learning of math, science, literacy, history economics, and ecology. Key objectives of all Living Classrooms programs are career development, community service, elevating self-esteem, and fostering multicultural exchange. FREDERICK DOUGLASS-ISAAC MYERS MARITIME PARK AND MUSEUM The Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park and Museum is a Living Classrooms Foundation campus (and headquarters) and national heritage site that celebrates the contributions of African-Americans in the development of the city s maritime industry. The site honors and interprets Baltimore s African- American maritime history, while preserving one of the city s oldest extant waterfront industrial buildings. Our mission is to preserve, re-claim, and share the past in order to enrich the present and future. The Founders Room The elegant sophistication of the Founders Room makes it an ideal location for weddings, dancing, dinner, or a large cocktail reception. Guests are greeted by a luxurious modern hand milled wood floors with windows views of the Baltimore Harbor nestled in the 1860 s brick sugar barn. 300 reception 200 standing capacity TheHerbert Bearman Community Arts Gallery in our very modern side of the building and hosts three beautiful wall to ceiling windows and balconies overlooking the Baltimore Harbor adorned with works of art from local community artists. Great for intimate dinners, receptions, and meetings.an adjacent caterer's kitchen makes the space extremely practical. This beautiful room accommodates 80 guests for dinner and up to 100 for a reception. The Harbor View Room and Terrace on the first floor is a wonderful way to start an evening with a private cocktail reception, while surrounded by water. This space can also be used for small seated dinners or receptions and has the ability to accommodate 80 guests for dinner or up to 100 for a reception. 5 GUIDELINES FOR ENTERTAINING The Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park and Museum provides a unique setting for corporate and private entertaining. In order to take advantage of the Maritime Park facilities, we must agree on the general character and purpose of the event, and indicate a preferred time and date. Assuming that your event is consistent with the following Maritime Park s guidelines are critical to our final engagement. SCOPE OF RENTAL: We ask you to respect that our facilities and campus have been designed to meet the needs of our gallery spaces and educational programs and not as a professional event facility. Therefore, it is imperative that consideration be made and must comply with all applicable rules and regulations, including insurance requirements. It is the responsibility of the Client/Tenant/Licensee to enforce and abide by the guidelines and regulations with which they have been provided: Rental of the Maritime Park s campus and facilities does NOT include catering of any kind, tables, chairs, tents, additional toilet facilities or other equipment required for the event. Clients must use the Exclusive Caterers Client agrees to administer, make provisions, and pay for all such catering, food, equipment, necessary permits, licenses and insurance. Client will be permitted to begin set-up 2 hours (minimum) prior to start of the event, and clean-up shall be completed in accordance 1 hour following the contracted ending time of the event. Any additional set-up or clean-up time will be charged on an hourly basis. The Maritime Park will provide a contact person to assist guests and answer any questions or concerns throughout the event; and may assign additional staff, as it deems necessary to cover your event The Maritime Park is wheelchair accessible Restroom facilities are located on the first and third floors INSURANCE: The Client must provide a Certificate of Liability Insurance with at least $1,000,000 in coverage for bodily injury and property damage, listing the Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park and the Living Classrooms Foundation as additionally insured Thames Street-Baltimore, MD T F
