1 WHAT'S NEW 7EN /2013 StruxureWare Power Monitoring Expert 7.2 The StruxureWare Power Monitoring Expert system provides energy consumption monitoring and management for an enterprise of one or many facilities. With this system you can measure, manage, and improve your energy availability, reliability, and efficiency. The following describes what's new in this release. Installer The Power Monitoring Expert Installer guides you through the installation. Many configuration and setup options are handled for you automatically. The Installer lets you select the language used in the software components. Your language selection also applies to the text in user interfaces, measurement and device names, and alarms and events. The Installer in this release now includes a Supervisor Account page for Standalone Server or Primary Server setup type installations. Use this page to enter and confirm a password for the supervisor account. This account has the highest level of access to the system. After installation of the software, you can use User Manager to add additional users, assign passwords, and select the appropriate access level for each user. The File Destination page provides an option to specify the installed location of the product and its folders, and a separate option to specify the installed location of the databases. The default installation location is the same for both options. Data storage and sharing The following database servers are used for storing and retrieving historical data: 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express, SP2 (database size up to 10 GB see the topic "Alarm Notification in a SQL Server Express Installation" in the Power Monitoring Expert 7.2 User Guide for information about alarm notification pertaining to maximum database size). 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Standard/Enterprise, SP3. 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard/Enterprise, SP2. Operating environment Power Monitoring Expert software can be installed on the following Microsoft Windows operating systems: 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7 Professional/Enterprise, SP1. 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows Server 2008, SP2. 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows Server 2008 R2, SP1. 2 The following browsers are supported on Web Client computers for the applications included in the Web Applications component (Dashboards, Diagrams, Tables, Alarms, Reports). Note that supported browsers other than Internet Explorer may respond differently to the functions in the applications. For further information about browser limitations and behavior differences, see the Schneider Electric Knowledge Base. Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 8, 9, or 10. Google Chrome version 20 or later. Apple Safari version 5 or later on Mac computers. The following browsers are supported on tablets to access the Diagrams application only: Safari on ipad tablets using ios 5 or ios 6.1 operating systems. Default browser on tablets using Android operating systems JB 4.1 or ICS 4.0. Device support The software includes built-in support for a wide range of devices (such as energy and power meters, protection relays, circuit breakers, PLCs, and so on), which helps to reduce commissioning time when adding new devices to the power monitoring system. This level of device support allows the use of Power Monitoring Expert software features such as dashboards, device diagrams, reports, and alarms. Release notes and mapping spreadsheets for device drivers recently added to the product are included in the product's installation location in...\system\doc\device Support\. The release notes provide information about the firmware versions supported by the device drivers, implementation details, images of Vista diagrams for the devices, and pertinent safety messages. The device driver mapping spreadsheets contain details such as modbus register addresses and corresponding ION register addresses (handles). Register mapping information is also provided for any devices using PC logging. Database management Scheduled jobs for the product's databases are configured in Windows Task Scheduler in product installations using any of the supported SQL Server editions. The following table summarizes the database names and the scheduled jobs that are configured in Windows Task Scheduler. 3 Scheduled jobs configured in systems supported for upgrade are not migrated to Power Monitoring Expert 7.2. Scheduled jobs need to be reconfigured using Windows Task Scheduler. See "Upgrade support" on page 5 for more information. Management Console The following new functions have been implemented in Management Console. Renaming devices and groups You can change the display names of devices and groups without losing any of the real-time or historical data associated with them. The implementation of this renaming function has resulted in the following changes in the Devices pane of Management Console: Group and Name are separate columns in the grid. The Name column is always displayed. The Group column is displayed by default, but you can use the Column Selector to remove it from the display area. You can now drag and drop the Group column to the Group By Box area to show the devices organized within each group. System Name and Data Availability are new columns that you can select for inclusion in the display area. System Name shows the internal name in group.name format. Data Availability indicates All for devices that are active and have real-time and historical data, and Historical only for devices that have been deleted and only provide historical data. Historical devices are included in the devices displayed when you select the Show historical devices checkbox. The Show historical devices option displays devices that have been deleted in Management Console. Since the data for these devices still exists in the system, they can be displayed when you select this option. Creating Managed Circuits The Managed Circuits function in Management Console allows you to automatically create devices representing the circuits of multi-circuit devices, such as BCPM and PM5350 devices, so that you can then treat each circuit as a source for both real-time and historical data in the system. The Managed Circuits function can only be invoked from the Management Console on a Standalone or Primary Server installation. These sources represent the physical structure in the system. For information about organizing these circuits and other metering points into a recognizable system-specific hierarchy view, see the online help in Hierarchy Manager. Hierarchy Manager Hierarchy Manager allows you to organize the devices in Power Monitoring Expert by defining their relationships and displaying them in an easy to understand way. Once these relationships have been created, energy data can be grouped and summarized, and then used by the Dashboards and Reports applications of Power Monitoring Expert. Page 3 of 5

4 You start the Hierarchy Manager application from the Tools menu in Management Console. For additional information, see the Hierarchy Manager topic in the Management Console tools section of the User Guide, and in the online help in Hierarchy Manager. Reports application The Reports application (in the Web Applications component) is now available on installations using SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition, SP2, in addition to its continued support on installations using supported editions of SQL Server 2008 and 2008 R2 Standard or Enterprise. When you install supported editions of SQL Server, you no longer need to select the Reporting Services feature. It is not required by the Reports application. A Billing Report is now available as a licensed option. You can configure an xml rate file that is installed and available for modification. You then use this rate file in combination with a hierarchy definition as parameter inputs for generating the billing report output. With the implementation of Hierarchy Manager, 5 of the default reports now support selecting a hierarchy view for your Source input parameter in addition to the Billing Report. These reports are the Hourly, Multi Device, and Single Device usage reports, and the Tabular and Trend reports. See the online help in the Reports application for more information. The Tabular Report now includes an option to show duplicate data. The default is No. Note that the system needs to be enabled to retain duplicate records in the database before this function is usable. A generated report can be downloaded as a PDF file, an Excel document, or a TIFF image file. The output formats supported for report subscriptions are Excel, TIFF, PDF, HTML, or XML. Report subscriptions from systems supported for upgrades will be migrated to Power Monitoring Expert 7.2 without the need for configuration changes. See "Upgrade support" on page 5 below for more information. Reporter The Reporter component of Power Monitoring Expert allows you to define, generate, and manage comprehensive reports based on information contained in your database. Reporter processes selected data and generates a finished report in Microsoft Excel format. Microsoft Excel and Outlook versions 2007 or 2010 are required by Reporter to format and generate reports, and to generated reports, respectively. The Validation option in Reporter provides a selection for Include duplicates and missing entries in source data to facilitate error checking. You can also specify additional actions for the handling of the data identified in the validation process. Note that the system needs to be enabled to retain duplicate records in the database before this function is usable. Dashboards application The gadgets in the Dashboards application now support two methods for selecting a data series. In addition to selecting a data series by device, you can now select a data series by view. Selecting the View option allows you to select sources based on views configured in a hierarchy, such as a floor in a physical layout, or a circuit in an electrical configuration. 5 Upgrade support Upgrades from ION Enterprise 6.0 SP1, and from StruxureWare Power Monitoring 7.0 SP1 are supported. In-place upgrades from these versions are valid if your current system uses one of the supported operating system and SQL Server combinations for Power Monitoring Expert 7.2. Upgrades from other operating system or SQL Server combinations requires data migration. When upgrading from ION Enterprise 6.0 SP1, you should take into account the amount of time and the large amount of hard drive space that may be required. Software license activation The installed software includes a 90-day trial license for all features of the product. You must activate valid purchased software licenses within 90 days, otherwise some software functionality is disabled.
