6 Configuring and Adding Devices Device Support in PowerLogic ION Enterprise Service Pack 2 Reporter Use Reporter to create and generate common energy, demand and power quality reports. For instructions on using Reporter to generate reports for the devices covered in this document, see Viewing Historical Data using Reporter on page 15. Configuring and Adding Devices This section outlines which software configuration utility to use with which device and provides information on device parameters that require a specific setting to communicate with ION Enterprise. Device Configuration Software Use the following software to configure these devices: Device CM3000 series/ CM4000 series Configuration Software PMCU Availability Download from the Support section of Compact NSX RSU Contact Technical Support BCPM ION Setup 2.2 Contact Technical Support 1 If you plan to use both ION Enterprise and PMCU (PowerLogic Meter Configuration Utility) on the same computer, install ION Enterprise first. If you already have PMCU installed, contact Technical Support. For additional information on these configuration utilities, refer to the Support and Library sections of or contact your Schneider Electric representative. For information on using these tools to configure devices, see their accompanying online Help or the documentation that came with your device. Trying to communicate with the device using the configuration tool and ION Enterprise at the same time can cause communication problems. To avoid this, stop communication between the device and the configuration software before connecting to the device with ION Enterprise, and vice versa. To discontinue communication between ION Enterprise and the device, right-click on the device in Management Console and select Disconnect. Page Schneider Electric. All rights reserved.

7 Device Support in PowerLogic ION Enterprise Service Pack 2 Configuring Devices to Communicate with ION Enterprise Configuring Devices to Communicate with ION Enterprise Before adding a device in ION Enterprise, configure the device using the appropriate configuration software listed in the previous section. The following table outlines parameters that need to be set in a particular way on the device for the device to communicate with ION Enterprise. Device Device Parameter Required Setting CM3000 series/cm4000 series Compact NSX Protocol Parity Auto-Speed sensing Parity Modbus RTU None No None BCPM Parity Off Modbus Device Address Considerations Make sure the address (Unit ID) is unique for each device on a serial communications loop. Devices must have an address from 1 to 247. Setting Up CM series Data Logs for Use with Reporter The CM series devices by default do not log all the measurements required to generate Load Profile and Energy & Demand reports using Reporter. To generate these reports, you must first use PMCU to configure the meter to log these measurements. Use PMCU to configure the onboard data logs as follows: 1. Add Reactive Energy Into the Load and Real Energy Into the Load to the Log Template that corresponds to basic values (e.g., Basic Values). 2. Add the log containing basic values into the Log Files for Data Log #1. Make sure the following settings are set as noted: Select Continuous logging. Make sure Enable is selected. 3. Configure other settings as required for your purposes. It is recommended that you use PMCU or Vista to disable Data Log 4 on CM series devices in your ION Enterprise network. Because this Data Log logs at a very high frequency (every 5 seconds), it can impact the performance of ION Enterprise. For detailed instructions on using PMCU to configure your device, see the PMCU online help. For instructions on generating the reports, see Creating and Generating Default Reports on page Schneider Electric. All rights reserved. Page 7

8 Adding Devices to ION Enterprise Device Support in PowerLogic ION Enterprise Service Pack 2 Configuring Input Metering on CM series Devices With input metering, device inputs can measure values from the same location as the device or they can measure values from locations other than that of the device. If you want these inputs to appear in ION Enterprise as device independent measurements, you must create custom labels for these measurements using PMCU. These custom labels must include symbol. ION Enterprise interprets labels with symbol as a device independent measurements. Measurements with the default labels appear as if they are from the CM series device and are available to the OPC Server Assistant. However, if you use custom labels to create device-independent measurements, these measurements are no longer available to the OPC Server Assistant. Adding Devices to ION Enterprise BCPM OPC Server Support in ION Enterprise OPC support is available for the BCPM in ION Enterprise except for channel measurements (such as channel current and channel demand), which are not exported to the OPC server. Perform basic device configuration using the appropriate device configuration utility before you add the device to your ION Enterprise network. For instructions on adding devices to your ION Enterprise network, see the online ION Enterprise Help. The BCPM and Device Licensing in ION Enterprise Device licensing for the BCPM in ION Enterprise is different from most other devices. For specific information on device licensing and the BCPM, contact your Schneider Electric sales representative. BCPM84 For the BCPM84, each pair of current sensor (CT) strips must be added as a separate device in ION Enterprise. Each pair of CT strips has a unique unit ID (the base address that you configure and the base address plus 1). The BCPM84 appears as two devices in ION Enterprise. However, each pair of CT strips on the BCPM84 counts as half a device license so when you add both pairs of CT strips, you use one device license. BCPM42 The BCPM42 is added as one device in ION Enterprise and counts as one device license. Page Schneider Electric. All rights reserved.

9 Device Support in PowerLogic ION Enterprise Service Pack 2 Using Vista to View Data and Perform Resets Using Vista to View Data and Perform Resets This section outlines how real time and logged data is organized in Vista for different device types, what reset controls are available and how to perform the available resets.
