Course Description: This course emphasizes the application of computer tools to library procedures and information access and the design, production, and organization of instructional media. 3. ISBN-13: , ISBN-10: Required Software - Video editing software (e.g., Camtasia, MovieMaker2, or any video editing software) - Screen-capture software (e.g., Camtasia, snipping tool in Microsoft Windows, etc.) Required Hardware - Headset with microphone Technology Requirements - Online graduate students must have routine access to a computer with a reliable Internet connection. Your browser must be up-to-date and current; this means that you should be using the current version of Mozilla Firefox, Java, and any other web browser of your preference. Course Objectives Based upon the acquisition of the knowledge, understandings, appreciations and the implementation of experiences in LIB 863, students will: Cognitive Outcomes 1. Evaluate classmates websites based on criteria established through usercentered, and best practices in the development of school media library web sites. KYTS9-A Teaching and Learning Outcomes 4. Apply user-centered design principles to produce a variety of instructional media products aligned with content and technology standards. KYTS1-A KYTS2-A KYTS3-A KYTS6-A KYTS9-A KYTS10-A 5. Use various pieces of hardware such as computers, camcorders, video editing equipment, etc. to produce a video media. KYTS1-A KYTS6-A KYTS9-A KYTS10-A 6. Use current and updated computer software programs for instructional and advocacy purposes such as web authoring software, video editing software, and image editing software. Use appropriate technology applications to complete course requirements. KYTS6-A Dispositions 9. Student Progress Report Students grades may be viewed at anytime on the online course system (viz., Blackboard). 7. Attendance Policy Absences equating 20% of weekly discussion board participation or class meetings, if any, will result in automatic failure. Note that this refers to both face to face and online classes. Class sessions missed as a result of late entry will be counted as absences. The student is responsible for presenting adequate reason for absence to the instructor in order to be given opportunity to make up missed work. (Adequate reasons include personal illness, death or serious illness in the immediate family, or participation in an approved university activity.) 8. Last day to drop course or to withdraw from the University are included in the class schedule or EKU s Colonel s Compass at 9. Students have the responsibility to recognize that certain communications may be time-critical. Students are always encouraged to contact instructor especially when in doubt in content, assignment, discussion items, schedules, etc. Students are expected to receive response from instructor within hours, but I
