3 FU Berlin is one of Europe s elite universities situated in Berlin, Germany s capital. Berlin s cultural vibrancy, sizzling creativity and raw charm attracts people from all over the world. It is home to roughly 3.4m people who enjoy it s old world charm and bustling everyday life. Besides FUB, Berlin has 2 other universities and numerous private, professional and technical colleges offering scholars a wide range of educational options. The city also has a high concentration of research institutions that often function in conjunction with universities. BERLIN

6 Freie Universität Berlin s International Summer and Winter University intense, academic summer program offering more than 45 courses (subject courses + semi-intensive & intensive language classes) mostly taught in English The program uses the vast social, cultural, historical, political institutions and resources Berlin has to offer in study and field trips as well as excursions outside of Berlin small class room settings (15-18 students)

7 Freie Universität Berlin s International Summer and Winter University Students are part of an international community - students from more than 50 countries attend FUBiS every year we arrange student housing, including home stays with Berlin families Further information: Application deadlines: Term 1 (Jan 5 Jan 26): Dec 8, 2012 Term 2 (May 25-July 6): late April Term 3 (July 13-Aug 10): mid June

8 FU-BEST Berlin European Studies Program of Freie Universität Berlin semester / year long program, running September-December (Fall) and January-April (Spring) + optional FUB Sommersemester April- July for students with adequate German language skills 3 semesters in one year Non-language courses taught in English by expert faculty covering cultural studies, art history, comparative literature, the European Union, German and European politics, sociology, psychology, film studies, comparative religion, philosophy No prior knowledge of German needed; language classes at all skill levels
