1 MPPA Newsletter / January 2014 MPPA Rep on Student Council MPPA student Jason Barnes represents the program on California Lutheran University s Graduate and Professional Student Council (GPSC). He has this update: MPPA Graduates Share Career Updates This is a very exciting time to be part of GPSC. Our mission is to serve as the voice to represent and advise California Lutheran University s Graduate and Professionals student body. I am honored to serve in a dual capacity of MPPA representative and vice chair of the council. This past fall I was asked to head a GPSC committee tasked with creating and developing the constitution for the council. Over several months of diligent work with the committee our constitution was solidified and passed by the representatives of the council in December This is a milestone for GPSC. In addition, we have focused on building awareness about who we are as an organization, along with branding, and recruiting students interested in getting involved. We have an ambitious agenda for the spring, including planning a large event to benefit the graduate and professional students, continuing work on creating a sustainable annual budget, drafting our first resolution(s), and seeking to fill the leadership roles of the council for the following year. It has been a rewarding experience serving on the council. Jason Barnes 14 The next Graduate and Professional Student Council Meeting is Monday, January 20th from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Swenson 209. Meetings are open to all graduate and professional students. To learn more about GPSC or how you might get involved, visit callutheran.edu/gpsc You ll find a recent list of career updates for MPPA graduates on page 5 of this newsletter. Send your updates to Darla Arcuri at [email protected] and we ll include it in the next newsletter. Please include a photo.
