1 Microsoft Technology Practice Capability document Overview Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) and Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) facilitate rapid website creation that supports specific content publishing, content management, collaboration and search. This document gives an overview of our experience with SharePoint Server 2003, WSS 2.0, MOSS 2007 and WSS 3.0. In the UK, Janssen-Cilag employs more than 500 people. ITC Infotech has designed and developed the Share-point site for J&J IM Department in order to help demonstrate Share-point capability in terms of team collaboration, sharing of project documents within teams and streamlining of creation, modification, archiving and versioning of the shared documents. Client: Janssen-Cilag (Information Management) Technologies MOSS 2007, WSS 3.0, VS2005, C#, MS SQL Server 2005 Duration Team Size 3 6 weeks Before implementation of this solution, shared network folder was the primary means of shared document storage and collaboration for IM department. While it served the purpose within workgroups, there were some challenges 1. Inefficient collaboration across teams. 2. Inefficient document control leading to duplication 3. Inefficient search The SharePoint based solution was built to facilitate the IM department in team collaboration, sharing the project documents across teams, versioning and archiving of document and project tracking. 4

Meta-data is provided on this document library for categorization of different project documents Slide library to store the PowerPoint presentations. User can upload the PowerPoint presentations and select the desired slides for a presentation Picture library to store the pictures of team events Project Tracking - project status reporting, Assign tasks, update status, Gantt chart views including a dashboard showing the overall status of all project tasks and issues 5

6 C a p a b i l i t y d o c u m e n t : M O S S / W S S Sample 2: Westside KM Portal for ITD MOSS Intranet Portal The portal is an Intranet Knowledge Management portal which acts as a common workspace for the Westside Team to enable effective capture of knowledge for current and future use and to gradually evolve into a Knowledge Management Portal Department: Enterprise-wide Technologies MOSS 2007, WSS 3.0, VS2005, C#, MS SQL Server 2005 Duration Team Size 3 12 weeks The application purpose was to prevent re-inventing of wheel syndrome in terms effective and seamless capture, storage and re-use of information and knowledge across the division and to bring the intellect of the entire organization to bear upon any problem at any location. It facilitated realtime collaboration platform to enable capability building and to prevent knowledge getting lost due to transfers, attrition or retirements. Solution: A custom MOSS application was proposed primarily for its capabilities in document collaboration and management, workflows both out of the box as well as custom and to bring about a centralized repository for the proposals. It consists of two modules i.e. a librarian module for Administering and asset management and general user module for searching the catalogue of assets including provision for reserving assets and recommending new assets. 10

It provides a platform to share various information related accounting standard, policies, audit reports, operating guidelines, competency framework, SAP processes notes related to finance. Apart from these any new initiative that is announced, is displayed in the dashboard. Links to other finance related internet sites is also provided.
