It is especially designed for engineering professionals who have already worked in their jobs for approx. three years. It is designed as a part-time programme over a duration of about 20 months and concludes with a Master of Science of the KIT. The academic calendar for the next programme starting on 3 October 2016 consists of 10 intensive modules, each with a duration of 10 days. Forms of assessment Written and oral exams at the end of each module + Master's thesis & colloquium after completion of the modules ECTS credits 90 Diploma supplement Yes Course objectives Graduates of the Master's programme Production & Operations Management (POM) are able to analyse and optimise the efficiency of value-added processes within the operation of production and service systems. They can understand and analyse service and production processes, capture and formally describe requirements, frame boundary conditions and targets and achieve a targeted improvement by means of the skills they have acquired in the Master's programme. Graduates are familiar with state-of-the-art concepts and methods and are able to apply those in a problem-oriented way. Methods and techniques in conjunction with decision making are especially focused on in the Operations Management programme. In addition, graduates can identify the possibilities and limitations of formal methods and models as well as the challenges that represent the transmission between the modelled world and reality and handle them in a solution-driven way. Given that nowadays in production and logistics the flow of data, products and money are closely interconnected, graduates are able to solve problems taking into account these tree factors and multi-disciplinary solution approaches. 4 Language requirements English language test (e.g. TOEFL or IELTS) for non-native speakers (TOEFL score of at least 95 ibt) Academic requirements In order to be admitted to our Master's programme, the following requirements have to be met: University qualification: Bachelor, Master, Diploma etc. (University, University of Applied Sciences, Cooperative State University) Exception: other degrees may be accepted (e.g., professional experience) Professional experience: Depending on the first degree's level (210 or 180 ECTS points) - One or two years of practical experience in the specific field of the course is required. - Three years of work experience are recommended. - References are needed as evidence. English qualification: Evidence of an adequate knowledge of the English language is required, normally in the form of a TOEFL (at least 95 ibt) or an equivalent qualification which must be checked individually.
