She taught four years in Marion, S.D. and is in her 21st year of teaching beginning band in the Brookings School District where she starts approximately 120 students per year. Mary created/directed the Brookings summer youth band program, directed the Brookings Elementary Beginning Band in performance for the South Dakota Bandmaster s convention, is a staff member at the All-State Music Camp, assisted with the Brookings High marching band, has been a cooperating teacher with SDSU music education majors, adjudicates elementary/middle school solo/ensemble contests, and currently serves as the SDHSAA All-State Band chair as well as SDBA Young Bands representative. Mary is a member of SDBA and Phi Beta Mu. John F. Colson is professor emeritus of music at SDSU, where he was conductor and music director of the SDSU-Civic Symphony Orchestra for 34 years. He taught conducting, trumpet, and French horn for 37 years. He founded, directed and taught at the All-State Music Camp at SDSU in Brookings as well as the Rushmore Junior High Music Camp in the Black Hills both of which are still flourishing. He is the author of two brass books: Braces & Brass and Rhythm & Pulse: Reading Music for the Trumpet and French horn Player. He is the author of the recent conducting book entitled, Conducting and Rehearsing the Instrumental Music Ensemble: Scenarios, Priorities, Strategies, Essentials, and Repertoire.

6 Mackenzie McKeithan is in her third year as band director at T. F. Riggs High School in Pierre, where she directs the Emerald Regiment marching band and pep band, two concert bands, a jazz band, pit orchestra, and high school beginning band. Her groups have earned superior ratings at contest, have performed at the annual Bandmasters In-Service Conference, competed in Chicago, and are seen regularly at the State AA Basketball Tournament as Band of the Day. In 2013, Mackenzie graduated from Augustana College in Sioux Falls with a bachelor s in instrumental music education. She has been a member of SDBA for two years, and a member of NAfME/SDMEA for eight years. Mackenzie is currently pursuing a graduate degree in music education from Northern State University in Aberdeen. The music of Erik Morales has a melodic and harmonic vocabulary that appeals to audiences worldwide. He has composed best-selling music for many types of genres (classical, jazz, pop), a rare trait in today s composers. He studied composition at Florida International University and completed a bachelor s at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette. Morales composing career began shortly after high school when he arranged music for the marching band, opening doors to the educational music publishing industry. His acclaimed chamber ensembles won the 2006 and 2008 National Trumpet Competitions. He currently teaches and plays trumpet professionally in the New Orleans area and maintains an active composing and conducting schedule. Alfred Publishing s Belwin Jazz publishes his jazz ensemble music while FJH Music exclusively publishes his concert and orchestral works. Dr. Andrew Robinette is an assistant professor of Music at SDSU where he teaches conducting, applied voice, music education methods, and conducts the SDSU Statesmen. He has taught at the collegiate level for more than a decade, previously serving on the faculties of Temple University, Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, and as the choir director at Philadelphia University. Dr. Robinette also served as the choir director at Cardinal Dougherty and West Catholic High Schools of Philadelphia. He has presented interest sessions at the national, divisional, and state level with several organizations including the Music Teacher s National Association, American Choral Directors Association, College Music Socitey and the South Carolina Music Educators Association, as well as serving on the Editorial Board of The Choral Scholar. Kenneth Tse is widely recognized as one of the world s leading classical saxophonists and is certainly one of the instrument s outstanding proponents on any saxophone aficionado s short list. He burst on the scene in 1996 winning the prestigious New York Artists International Award. His debut recital at Carnegie Hall allowed The New York Times to hail him as a young virtuoso. He has been a frequent soloist on five continents, including solo appearances with the Des Moines Symphony, U.S. Navy Band, Slovenia Army Band,

7 La Armónica Band of Bunol, Spain, Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra and Hong Kong Sinfonietta. He is a featured artist at the triennial World Saxophone Congress and North American Saxophone Alliance conferences. Tse has also been a guest clinician and taught master classes at conferences, universities and conservatories. Jacob Wallace, director of Concert Bands at SDSU, is an accomplished conductor, educator, adjudicator and writer, and is an emerging personality in the performance of contemporary instrumental music. His efforts to present innovative and approachable new works have brought modern trends to atypical places, with performances lauded by audiences and professionals alike. Ensembles under his direction have presented world, national, and regional premieres by such composers as Rusty Banks, John Mackey, Michael Markowski, and James Syler. He has been published in seven volumes of GIA s Teaching Music Through Performance in Band and has become known for engaging program notes, commissioned directly by a number of composers, which have helped fresh audiences understand new works on their first listening. During summers, he serves as principal conductor and a faculty member for the Cortona Sessions for New Music in Tuscany, Italy. Larry Wyatt s first teaching position was in elementary band, but working with a high school chorus was a life-changing experience. Following his master s degree in choral music education, he accepted a position as choral director, teacher of voice and assorted brass instruments at then-cfjc in Ocala, Fla. The U.S. Army then made him a rehearsal band director at the Armed Forces School of Music. He then enrolled in the doctoral program at Florida State and shared a part-time elementary teaching job with wife, Susan, who supervised his teaching. In 1987, he became director of choral studies at the University of South Carolina and is in charge of the DMA and M.M. degree programs in choral conducting. He is one of the most published active choral director authors in professional journals. He edits a series for American Voices for Alliance Music Publishers. Susan Wyatt has taught choral/vocal music to 3-year-olds and adults in school, church, community and university settings and all ages in between. Recently retired from the Greater Columbia Childrens Choir, she is in her 25th year directing the Chamber Choir of Kershaw County. She holds degrees in music education from Murray State University, Florida State University, and the University of South Carolina, as well as the License in Dalcroze Eurhythmics from Carnegie-Mellon and the Teacher s Certificate in Orff Music for Children from the University of Memphis. Her choirs have performed with the New Orleans Symphony, the Bryan Symphony, the USC Orchestra and the South Carolina Philharmonic as well as at ACDA state and regional conventions.
