Globally, the picture is equally disconcerting, pointing to a demographic time bomb that will have a major impact on the industry. In order to build this much-needed capacity, the University of British Columbia (UBC) has been working with top leaders in the mining community to create a new Executive MBA program designed exclusively for the mining Industry. Keevil Institute of Mining Engineering After graduation with a PhD in geophysics and civil engineering from Stanford University, Dr. Scott Dunbar worked for various engineering consulting organizations in mining exploration, geotechnical engineering, mine design, design of tailings dams, water resources engineering and hydroelectric engineering. In 1997, Scott joined the Department of Mining Engineering at UBC where he has taught courses in Mine Economics, Mine Waste Management, Mine Design, Operations Research and Simulation. SANTIAGO Ron Giammarino PHN Professor in Corporate Finance Director, Phillips, Hager & North Centre for Financial Research Professor and Chair, Finance Division UBC Sauder School of Business Dr. Ron Giammarino, a PhD graduate from Queen s University, joined the UBC Sauder School in 1984 and served as the Chair of the Finance Division from 1995 to His research and teaching interests include corporate finance and strategy, valuation, financial institutions and financial regulation. A co-author of two textbooks, Ron has numerous publications in the field of finance. Ron has consulted for numerous private and public sector companies. LONDON
