In 2015, China s GDP reached trillion yuan. 6 AUTOMOTIVE The automotive market had achieved a growth of only about 3% in 2015 which, as it was significantly lower than that in previous years, an indication of the automotive industry s weakness. Automotive enterprises were therefore actively seeking breakthrough. Their efforts were mainly manifested in the following aspects: with national policy support on new-energy automobiles, green and energy-saving vehicles became the market s vogue, the concept of 'Internet +' penetrated every aspect of marketing channels and after-sales service, re-establishing the industrial value chain, the main development directions of automobiles have become clear, i.e., application of information technology to traditional automobiles mainly by automotive manufacturers and Internet of Vehicles (IOV) based on cooperation among automotive manufacturers, mobile communication operators, hardware equipment manufacturers, software service providers and relevant research and development institutions. Accordingly, the demand for talent took on the following new characteristics: R&D and technical workers are still in great shortage. Nevertheless, instead of traditional mechanical products R&D, the demand shifts to electronics, software and hardware and infotainment service R&D, the demand for sales and marketing management personnel is greater than that for operation personnel. There is a great demand for jobs in new energy automobile industrial chain. Apart from the demand for talent on assembled automotive, there s a sharp rise of demand for talent adept in new energy motor, battery and electronics, while there is severe shortage of personnel experienced in new-energy automobile projects. 29 HEALTHCARE & LIFE SCIENCE There were numerous mergers and acquisitions in the medical and life sciences industries in 2015, with the majority of companies undergoing restructuring and even downsizing. During the year fluctuations in recruitment demand were mainly in pharmaceutical manufacturing. Following the GSK controversy, many companies maintained a low profile for their sales activities. Strict government control with respect to tender and bids and market entry had also spurred pharmaceutical and medical devices companies to turn their attention on experts with drug and professional background in order to build a strong compliance team. The above factors have meant a sharp reduction in recruitment of sales staff, but strong demand for candidates for medical and professional education, tender and bid, market entry, supervisory and compliance positions. Furthermore, with most foreign pharmaceutical companies had having already established research & development centers in China, medical equipment companies were also accelerating their establishment of research & development centers and bases in the country. With further opening-up, professionalization and ownership diversification of the hospital and medical institution industry in 2015, they acted as fresh driving force that drove the development of healthcare and life sciences industries. From the perspective of recruitment market, although candidates remained highly receptive to fresh opportunities, albeit in a prudent manner, most of them held a wait-and-see attitude. As for salary growth in relation to new jobs, their general expectation was 20-25%. It would appear that an increasing number of candidates were expecting more than 25% increase in salary. We anticipate that the salary increase in 2016 will be close to that in 2015, that is 5%-10%. Total industrial recruitment in 2016 will also be level with that in 2015, with continuing demand for personnel in strategic planning, government affairs, regulatory affairs and research & development functions on the market.
