2 Description New in this announcement are general availability dates and a media pack for z/os platforms. Refer to the Administrator s Guide for information on the IBM Tivoli Directory Integrator (TDI) V6.1 components that are supported on z/os. TDI V6.1 complements the IBM Tivoli integrated identity management portfolio by helping you quickly and effectively synchronize your application-specific directories. You are able to create an identity data infrastructure that helps maximize the value and accelerate the deployment of critical business on demand applications such as identity management and portal solutions. New features of TDI V6.1 Faster, more flexible solutions deployment Improved change detection and update features can accelerate the development and deployment of synchronization solutions. Has a new System Queue that provides asynchronous communications that can drive work between multiple AssemblyLines (and across multiple servers). Property Manager and Parameter Substitution allow dynamic TDI solutions that alter configuration at run-time based on external properties. Integrated AssemblyLine Debugger for stepping interactively through AssemblyLine execution, complete with conditional breakpoints and full access to configuration settings and data, while the solution is running. Adds a new AssemblyLine Connector that turns an entire AssemblyLine into a single component (an adapter) that can easily be shared and re-used. Also includes a new Configuration Editor (CE) Resource Library that facilitates sharing and re-use of TDI components (including adapters). Includes separately installable components (server run-time, CE, administration management console) and enhanced APIs to make it easier to integrate multiple products for deployment of your solution. Improved manageability, usability, and scalability Is easy to use and deploy, offering the ability to scale from small to very large deployments. An improved administrative management console helps simplify monitoring of TDI, unifying even complex deployments with multiple servers into a single, customizable view. Adds new Action Manager for quickly adding failure detection and response features to your solutions, as well as customized health monitoring. Action Manager provides high availability by monitoring TDI solutions and triggering customized actions. Includes Command Line Interface (CLI) for authenticating to and controlling TDI servers: stop, start, and restart AssemblyLines, configurations and servers, and set/get properties. Includes a performance test utility to assess performance and help diagnose problems. Through changelog connectors, an improved delta engine is designed for higher performance change detection in source data. Enhanced TDI components UNIX Pluggable Authentication Modules (PAM) password interceptor; TDI Password Synchronizers for 64-bit platforms such as Windows (AMD 64), Sun ONE DS (Solaris 64-bit), and Tivoli Directory Server (AIX). Secure remote command line connector (both UNIX and Windows). Web services schema support, including Web services-provisioning and Web services-trust. SSL client authentication supported both for outgoing Web services calls, as well as AssemblyLines published as Web services. System Store configurations for Oracle or Microsoft SQL, in addition to Cloudscape and DB2. Common Base Events format supported (used by Common Event Infrastructure), as well as other Tivoli standards for common logging/monitoring, security, and change management. If you are interested in deploying a reliable, scalable enterprise directory for limited use with your TDI solution, the deliverable package for TDI V6.1 includes IBM Tivoli Directory Server V6.0 data store to create a consistent view of enterprise identity data. Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act IBM Tivoli Directory Integrator is capable as of August 18, 2006, when used in accordance with IBM s associated documentation, of satisfying the applicable requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, provided that any assistive technology used with the product properly interoperates with it. A U.S. Section 508 Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) can be requested via IBM s Web site /product_accessibility/index.html Product positioning Customer and Business Partner feedback have indicated that TDI offers an excellent way to start small and then expand into broader identity management solutions. TDI V6.1 includes an authoritative identity data infrastructure. This helps maximize the value of Tivoli Identity Manager. Additionally, it can easily integrate all versions of IBM Tivoli Directory Server with other IBM platform-optimized directory offerings, such as Domino, z/os, and OS/400, for a broad IBM strategic directory architecture. With TDI, you can quickly and effectively integrate many other directory and database elements that you need to leverage across an enterprise-scale Linux implementation. The TDI distributed architecture helps facilitate the synchronization of multiple identity data sources and can accelerate the implementation of important IBM applications, as well as those of IBM Business Partners. It fits into a wide variety of environments with broad support for operating systems, applications, directories, and databases. TDI can be deployed into IBM WebSphere Application Server environments and fits easily into your directory infrastructure. Existing IBM WebSphere Application Server identity data can be integrated and modified in place, rather than requiring migration of the data

3 TDI provides real-time synchronization between data sources, so that an enterprise can count on authoritative, up-to-date information for their on demand applications, where machine-to-machine transactions require that data must be accurate and reliable. The Enhanced Value-Based Pricing system is based upon the IBM Tivoli Environment-Managed Licensing Model, which uses a managed-environment approach whereby price is determined by what is managed rather than the number and type of product components installed. For example, all servers monitored with IBM Tivoli s monitoring product (IBM Tivoli Monitoring) require entitlements sufficient for those servers. Other IBM Tivoli products may manage clients, client devices, agents, network nodes, users, or other items, and are licensed and priced accordingly. Unlike typical systems management licensing models that require entitlements of specific software components to specific systems, the IBM Tivoli Environment-Managed Licensing Model provides the customer flexibility to deploy its IBM Tivoli software products within its environment in a manner that can address and respond to the customer s evolving architecture. That is, as the architecture of a customer s environment changes, the customer s implementation of IBM Tivoli software can be altered, as needed, without affecting the customer s license requirements (as long as the customer does not exceed its entitlements to the software). Under Enhanced Value-Based Pricing, licensing and pricing of server-oriented applications are determined based upon the server s use in the customer s environment. Typically, such applications are licensed and priced in a manner that corresponds to each installed and activated processor of the server managed by the IBM Tivoli application to help correlate price to value while offering a simple solution. Where a server is physically partitioned, this approach is modified. This partitioning technique is the approach used with systems that have either multiple cards or multiple frames, each of which can be configured independently. For servers capable of physical partitioning (for example, IBM eserver pseries Scalable POWERparallel Systems servers, Sun Ultra servers, and HP Superdome servers), an entitlement is required for each processor in the physical partition being managed by the IBM Tivoli application. For example, assume that a server has 24 processors installed in aggregate. If this server is not partitioned, entitlements are required for all 24 processors. If, however, it is physically partitioned into three partitions each containing eight processors, and Tivoli products were managing only one of the three partitions, then entitlements would be required for the eight processors on the physical partition managed by the IBM Tivoli application. For servers with virtual or logical partitions, entitlements are required for all installed and activated processors on the server. For each IBM Tivoli application managing a clustered environment, licensing is based on the cumulative number of installed and activated processors on each server in the cluster for each IBM Tivoli application managing the cluster. Where the cluster includes physically partitioned servers, the considerations described above concerning physically partitioned servers apply as well. 5 Enhanced Value-Based Pricing recognizes the convergence of RISC/UNIX and Microsoft Windows /Intel technologies, in order to simplify the customer s licensing requirements, and to provide a smoother, more scalable model. Pricing and licensing does not differentiate between non-zseries server platforms or operating systems. For some products, this platform neutrality extends to IBM eserver zseries and other host servers as well. IBM Tivoli Enhanced Value-Based Pricing terminology definitions IBM Tivoli Directory Integrator connected system A connected system is any directory, database, application, or file integrated or merged by IBM Tivoli Directory Integrator. IBM Tivoli Directory Integrator authorized user An authorized user of IBM Tivoli Directory Integrator is: (1) each individual, machine, program, or device whose identity is recorded in a connected system and whose identity can be synchronized by IBM Tivoli Directory Integrator; and (2) each individual, machine, program, or device that can access a connected system that is synchronized by IBM Tivoli Directory Integrator. The pricing model for IBM Tivoli Directory Integrator is enhanced to significantly reduce costs for many customers whose systems support a large number of external users. The price for these external users is no longer the same as for internal users. The external user charge will be based on a set ratio, so that the charge is lower than, and proportional to, the typical internal user charge. Enterprise Enterprise is any legal entity (such as a corporation) and its subsidiaries it owns by more than 50%. For more detailed information about Parallel Sysplex License Charge (PSLC) pricing, go to /library/refguides/sw_pricing.html Value Units A Value Unit is a metric used to compute license quantities and is program specific. Product Web site A complete list of products and licensing documents is available at /products/licensing.html Passport Advantage : Through the Passport Advantage Agreement, customers may receive discounted pricing based on their total volume of eligible products, across all IBM brands, acquired worldwide. The volume is measured by determining the total Passport Advantage points value of the applicable acquisition. Passport Advantage points are only used for calculating the entitled Passport Advantage discount. To determine the required Tivoli product configuration under Passport Advantage, the Tivoli Enhanced Value-Based Pricing Model applies. The customer s environment is evaluated on a per-product basis. Use the following two-step process to determine the total Passport Advantage points value: 1. Analyze the customer environment to determine the number of Tivoli Management Points or other charge unit for a product. The quantity of each product s part number to be ordered is determined by that analysis. 2. Order the Passport Advantage part number. A Passport Advantage point value, which is the same worldwide for a specific part number regardless of where the order is placed, is assigned to each Tivoli product part number. The Passport Advantage point value for the applicable part number multiplied by the quantity for that part number will determine the Passport Advantage points for that Tivoli product part number. The sum of these Passport Advantage points determines the Passport Advantage point value of the applicable Tivoli product authorizations which then may be aggregated with the point value of other applicable Passport Advantage product acquisitions to determine the total Passport Advantage points value. The discounted pricing available through Passport Advantage is expressed in the form of Suggested Volume Prices (SVPs), which vary depending on the SVP level. Each SVP level is assigned a minimum total Passport Advantage point value, which must be achieved, in order to qualify for that SVP level. Media packs and documentation packs do not carry Passport Advantage points and are not eligible for SVP discounting. For additional information on Passport Advantage, refer to the following Web site The following Passport Advantage part number categories may be orderable: License and Software Maintenance 12 months This is the product authorization with maintenance to the first anniversary date. Annual Software Maintenance Renewal This is the maintenance renewal for one anniversary that applies when a customer renews their existing coverage period prior to the anniversary date at which it expires. Software Maintenance Reinstatement 12 months This is for customers who have allowed their Software Maintenance to expire, and later wish to reinstate their Software Maintenance. Media packs These are the physical media, such as CD-ROMs, that deliver the product s code. Documentation packs These contain printed documentation such as the User s Guide and Release Notes. Custom build registration This is used with products that have an IBM zseries component. Ordering this part number results in a process to enable the customer to receive the zseries code via the z/os Customized Offerings packaging techniques, that is, ServerPac, SystemPac, or the Custom Build Product Delivery Option (CBPDO). Pricing examples IBM Tivoli Directory Integrator V6.1 In pricing TDI V6.1, an example is provided showing how authorized users are counted in calculating Value Units. An external user is one that is not part of the enterprise. TDI uses a ratio of five external authorized users equal

6 one chargeable user for the purpose of calculating Value Units. Internal and external authorized users are combined to calculate total chargeable users required. Value Units are set per 100 authorized users and are rounded up to the next 100. Therefore, all use authorizations will be in increments of 100. For example, a customer requiring 153 authorized users will purchase the same Value Units as a customer with 200 authorized users. Scalable Usage Levels are determined by the number of authorized users required. The Value Unit requirement covers all authorized users within a Scalable Usage Level. For TDI, the following scalable usage table will be used to determine the required Value Units per 100 authorized users. Scalable usage level Authorized K >5K -- 15K >15K -- >50K -- >150K -- Users 50K 150K 500K Value Units per 100 Authorized Users Scalable Usage level Authorized >500K -- 1M >1M -- 3M >3M -- 10M >10M Users Value Units per 100 Authorized Users Transaction 1: The customer is using TDI for an environment comprised of three connected systems with at total of 2,500 unique users. Here the pricing metrics offer straight one-to-one value. Thus, 2,500 unique users equated to 2,500 value units. Transaction 2: The customer is using TDI for an environment comprised of three connected systems with a total of 31,000 unique users. Authorized users are counted as follows: 31,000 authorized users. All users are counted one time regardless of the number of connections. Based on 31,000 authorized internal users, the total number of Value Units required is as follows: Quantity in Value Units per Value Units Pricing customer 100 authorized required metric environment (A) users (B) (A*B)/100 Tier 1 5, ,000 Tier 2 10, ,000 Tier 3 16, ,800 Total Value 14,800 Units Transaction 3: The customer, six months after Transaction 2, now requires TDI for its environment which has grown to four connections and now includes 125,000 external users in addition to the existing 31,000 internal users. Applying the five to one ratio of external users to internal users for the 125,000 external users, this equates to 25,000 chargeable users, and a new total of 56,000 unique users. Authorized users are counted as follows: 56,000 authorized users. Based on 56,000 authorized users, the total number of Value Units required is as follows: Quantity in Value Units per Value Units Pricing customer 100 authorized required metric environment (A) users (B) (A*B)/100 Tier 1 5, ,000 Tier 2 10, ,000 Tier 3 35, ,500 Tier 4 6, ,200 Total Value 21,700 Units Less currently (14,800) licensed from Transaction 2 Additional 6,900 Value Units required Transaction 4 (trade-up example): The customer, six months after Transaction 1, decides to move its environment to IBM Tivoli Identity Manager Express (ITIM Express). The customer can take its existing entitlement of 2,500 authorized users of TDI and trade them in for 2,500 authorized users of ITIM Express at the trade-up part number price. Licensees of TDI V6.0, current on Software Maintenance, are entitled to receive TDI V6.1. At the end of the maintenance term, the entitlement of current Value Units of TDI V6.0 will be converted to an equivalent entitlement of Value Units in TDI V6.1. As your environment grows, additional users can be added by purchasing Value Units per increment of 100 authorized users based on the applicable Scalable Usage Level. Product information Product Product Licensed function title group category IBM Tivoli Directory Integrator Tivoli Tivoli Security Directory Integrator Program name PID number Charge unit description IBM Tivoli Directory Integrator 5724-K74 Value Unit Charge metrics definitions Value Unit A Value Unit is a pricing charge metric for program license entitlements which is based upon the quantity of a specific designated measurement used for a given program. Each program has a designated measurement. The most commonly used designated measurement is a processor core. However, for select programs, there are other designated measurements such as users, client devices, and messages. The number of Value Unit entitlements required for your specific implementation of the given program must be obtained from a conversion table associated with the program. You must obtain a PoE for the appropriate number of Value Unit entitlements for your implementation. The Value Unit entitlements of a given program cannot be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with Value Unit entitlements of another program. It

7 Processor (Value Unit) A processor (commonly called a CPU or core) is a functional unit within a computing device that interprets and executes instructions. A processor consists of at least an instruction control unit and one or more arithmetic and/or logic unit. With multicore technology, each core is considered a processor. Not all processors require the same number of Value Unit entitlements. To determine the number of Value Unit entitlements required, refer to the processor value unit conversion table on the Passport Advantage Web site With full capacity licensing, a PoE must be acquired for the appropriate number of value units based on all activated processors on the server available to the program or a component of the program.
