1 Hardware Announcement April 12, 2005 IBM GB 15,000 M Drive and 300 GB 10,000 M Drive deliver exceptional performance and storage Overview The IBM 300 GB 10,000 M Drive (#3578, #1973) for selected IBM p5, OpenPower, and RS/6000 systems and the IBM GB 15,000 M Drive (#1972) for selected OpenPower systems provide world-class performance with interface speeds of 320 MB/sec when attached to an Ultra-320-capable adapter. The drives are also compatible with earlier, slower SCSI adapters. The higher SCSI bus data rate along with the 10,000 rpm (for the 300 GB disk drive) or 15,000 rpm (for the GB disk drive) spinning speed of the disk platter can greatly improve a system s overall data throughput. The disk drives 3.5-inch, 1-inch-high (25-mm) form factor allows them to be placed in dense system configurations.
