3 INTRODUCTION SaaS is a method of software delivery that allows data to be accessed from any device with an Internet connection and web browser. In this web-based model, DAVE hosts and maintains the servers, databases and code that constitute an application. This is a significant departure from the on-premise software delivery model. First, companies don t have to invest in extensive hardware to host the software, and this in turn, allows buyers to outsource most of the IT responsibilities typically required to troubleshoot and maintain the software. DAVE takes care of it all. In addition to allowing remote access via the web to the software applications and data, SaaS also differs from on-premise software in its pricing model. On-premise software is typically purchased through a perpetual license, which means buyers own a license to the software. They also pay a significant percentage per year in maintenance and support fees. SaaS, on the other hand, allows buyers to pay an annual subscription fee, which typically includes the software license, support and most other fees. A major benefit of SaaS is being able to spread out costs over time. DAVE operates an Integrated Management System (IMS) to ensure that we deliver consistent high quality. Our IMS is compliant with ISO 9001:2008 and is soon to be verified and certified to ISO 9001:2008. SECURITY AND PRIVACY DAVE is built with security in mind, using bank level encryption to our servers from your mobile and web devices. The database server where all critical data is held is located in a secure network not accessible by anyone outside DAVE. PAGE 2

Find out more about our server provider s security here: For more information on data privacy, please visit: BACK-UP AND RECOVERY CAPABILITY The overall DAVE system architecture is designed with data redundancy and protection as the number one concern. Major data and assets are built with three full servers for redundancy as well as 6 hour hard copy backups and daily off-site backups. Web servers are built behind a variable load balancer, spikes in traffic on the mobile and web application will never mean a slower service. 6 REGULAR BACKUP The system will have automated hourly database backups, along with daily data and image backups, with a weekly and monthly retention. Via the DAVE web panel Wind farm Owner accounts can also visit the data page where they can download an excel spreadsheet of their DAVE data. There will also be an off-site daily database backup in the unlikely event that the primary data centre was to become a longer available. SECURITY SEGREGATION The DAVE system uses advanced access based permissions and roles via an Access Control List (ACL) which is a part of the DAVE web app database. Only a single Wind farm Account may own a single farm which allows easy management of the access protocols. This is interpreted in the database via the owners account ID number; only the accounts with that number can view that Wind farm s data. CUSTOMISATION AND PERSONALISATION CAPABILITY DAVE provides simple and easy to use menus and inputs because of the stressful conditions that the App will be used in. The server allows; company logo uploads for reporting, wind farm and wind turbine configurations, unique material list generation, company resource configuration, project configurations and more. These are typically undertaken by the Head Technician or the Admin. Further customisation capabilities may be considered by DAVE if there is a request from multiple Clients or if there is a significant increase in productivity, functionality or other reason acknowledged by DAVE. INTEGRATION CAPABILITIES An application-programming interface (API) is a set of programming instructions and standards for accessing a Web-based software application or Web tool. A software company releases its API to the public so that other software developers can design products that are powered by its service. DAVE is currently producing an API to facilitate DAVE s project management data to populate Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS ). WORKFLOW CAPABILITIES DAVE s configuration was based on a robust standard project tracking requirement typically employed by leading Project Engineers. PAGE 4

7 We identified the minimum useful requirements that we, as blade specialists, would want without over complicating things. You can look at the project overview and see the real time of the project. We chose to track on a per damage upward capability: Hours worked Materials and components used Timeframes Lost time due to delays (operational or weather) The inspection and repair project particulars are stored in the system for interrogation, and can be provided as part of the reports. RESPONSIVENESS TO REQUESTED ENHANCEMENTS AND CHANGES DAVE is open to suggestions around any enhancements or changes that will make DAVE more effective and functional. Along with APIs (refer to Integration capabilities above). PROTECTION OF DATA AND SERVICE IF DAVE CEASED TO OPERATE As standard DAVE provides a 2 way SaaS Escrow Agreement with an Agent that is a proud member of the international Software Escrow Association (ISEA).
