"Konstarter i pedagogiken Art in Education" Edsbyn, Ovanåker, Gävleborg. January 7-8, A meeting place for teachers, school managers and cultural workers. Welcome! A very warm welcome to the conference "Konstarter i pedagogiken Art in Education", which takes place in the heart of the Swedish landscape Hälsingland over the course of two days in January. The conference will feature lectures, practical workshops, seminars and various cultural experiences. As organizers, our aim is to create a kind of meeting place where you as a teacher or cultural worker can find inspiration and motivation to work with the arts in education. The conference is a joint venture with the EU-financed project "ARTinED" and several other partners from the region and across Sweden. We hope that your days in Edsbyn will be really inspiring. Once again, a very warm welcome! Sofia Nohrstedt, Dance consultant, Music Gävleborg Carina Isaksson, Head of culture, Ovanåker Municipality Helena Ehrstrand, Head of operations, Viksjöforsbaletten (Viksjöfors ballet company) Monday, January Children, culture and learning Röda Kvarn Theatre Opening ceremony The conference opens with a speech by municipal commissioner Yoomi Renström, Cecilia Björklund Dahlgren from "Institutet Dans i Skolan" (Institute Dance in School) and Anders Kråkan Ågren, musician from Gävleborg county Culture and health Röda Kvarn Theatre Lecture This lecture is being given by Gunnar Bjursell, professor in molecular biology at Göteborgs Universitet (The University of Gothenburg). Professor Bjursell is a specialist on the subject of how culture is conducive to learning and health Break for coffee "Lyckans Galoscher Folkets Hem" Performance (Lucky shoes The People's Home) Riksteatern Gävleborg presents the acclaimed play "Lyckans Galoscher" performed by Teater Pero. Aunt Ester stands center stage supported by a mime "orchestra" that mixes poetic scenes, illusions and unexpected sketches. "Lyckans Galoscher" features music, games and absurd elements, which celebrate a child's joy of discovery. A performance in the spirit of famed children's author Lennart Hellsing! The play is a wonderful inspirational experience for both grown ups and kids.
Break Dinner and entertainment at Voxnadalens gymnasium (Voxnadalen's High School) Tuesday, January 8 The dinner is served by Kafé Rost and FOMP will provide the entertainment. It promises to be a great evening with all sorts of cultural elements! A choice of seminars and workshops A. "Knacka På!" Pingstkyrkans danssal (Knock on the door! In Pingstkyrkan's dance hall) How does one "dance a book"? Is that really possible? Start by imagining a red backpack stuffed with a book, a yellow watering can and other props, plus a CD with specially written music and a methodological guide book. The material is based on Anna Clara Tidholm's popular book for pre-school children and is produced in collaboration with Fölets pre-school in Edsbyn. Choreographer Sophia Färlin- Månsson leads the lecture and workshop with practical exercises. B. Language development through aesthetic forms of expression What can children teach us? Musikskolans biorum (The Music School's theatre) Reading comprehension is decreasing in children and young people, and there is a need for new methods to help awaken a desire for reading and story telling. Litteraturhuset in Sandviken, Gävleborg, focuses on language stimulation via aesthetic forms of expression. The starting point is to see it from a child's perspective. How can we as adults see "signs of learning" in children? How can we guide them and what can we learn from their spontaneous, natural quest for knowledge? The seminar is led by Fredrik Lindstrand, associate professor in didactics, Högskolan in Gävle, and Karin Forsgren Anderung, project manager at Litteraturhuset för barn och unga in Sandviken as well as in the entire region. C. Vi slår på trummor inte på varann! Bibliotekets hörsal (Library auditorium) (We hit drums not each other!) We are now seeing results from the project "Vi slår på trummor inte på varann!" which is taking place in Segevångsskolan in Malmö. It clearly shows that students felt more alert, happier, calmer and more relaxed when playing the drums. The students' grades have even improved considerably in all subjects. Project manager Anna-Carin Fogelqvist from "Musik i Syd" explains how the successful project changed the whole school and became news in the entire country. D. ARTinED and other European projects as a resource for learning Röda Kvarn Please note that this lecture is held in English.
Dr Cinzia Laurelli - Advisor in Brussels for the Fondazione Nazionale Carlo Collodi (Carlo Collodi is the acknowledged writer of Pinocchio) and ARTinED Project Co-ordinator presents the activity of the FNCC in art and education and the European experiences of the FNCC at European level. Two cases will be presented: P.IN.O.K.I.O. project and ARTinED. Dr Figen Yilmaz from Çukurova University, Turkey, gives a practical workshop and helps you get involved in two European funded projects Digital Children's Folksongs for Language and Cultural Learning and Motivating secondary school students to learn languages with relevant media Break for coffee A choice of seminars and workshops E. Dansmatte för högstadiet Pingstkyrkans danssal (Dancing maths for Secondary School) Based on the Swedish teaching program Lgr11 and its course plan in mathematics, the dance instructor and postgraduate Ninnie Andersson has developed the method of Dancing Maths for Secondary School. Dance is used as a tool for the students to complete their required course in mathematics. During this workshop you will have a chance to "dance" geometry, fractions and percentages. In addition, you will learn how the project is anchored in the school's teaching program. The interest for Dancing Maths is very high in Sweden and has even created international demand. F. Vänligen rör konstverket! Bibliotekets hörsal (Please touch the art!) Johan Anderung, art consultant and Annica Ferner, image educator, present a Laser graffiti installation and a multifaceted piece of art called "The Night of the Hunter" created by Jonas Kjellgren. It is simultaneously a collection of sculptures, a game, an animation-filled box. Last but not least, this original work of art sparks your creative imagination. Laser graffiti is an fleeting form of graffiti made possible with the use of a laptop computer, a video camera, a projector, a laser pointer and simple software. The experience is like painting with light for instance on the wall of a building. G. Creative writing - Röda Kvarn Please note that this lecture is held in English. Is it possible to improve the skills of a young writer in school or in an academic environment? What is the importance of a resident writer or of a visiting writer in touch with the students on a daily basis as an ideal guide for the development of their literary capabilities? The myth of inspiration and of spontaneous creativity raised in the Romantic period are still valid today, after more than a century of psychoanalytical and pedagogical knowledge. Lecturer / workshop leader: Prof. Julio Monteiro Martins expert in Creative writing for the ARTinED project at Fondazione Nazionale Carlo Collodi (Italy).
H. När kulturen knackar på skolans dörr Musikskolans biosal (When culture knocks at school's door) A lecture dealing with aesthetic learning processes, language development and "obedient" creativity. How can culture be more closely connected to school? How can schools develop culture and aesthetics? Ulla Wiklund works as a development consultant within culture and education. Her unique combination of expertise and experience from educational and cultural life makes her lectures an important element in developing today's schools Lunch - Voxnadalens gymnasium A choice of seminars and workshops I. The wider benefit of music Röda Kvarn Please note that this lecture is held in English. Dr Evangelos Himonides from London University/Mosaic art and sound, gives a lecture on the wider benefits of music. Dr Himonides presents findings from empirical research conducted at the International Music Education Research Centre (imerc), arguing the crucial role that the Arts play in fostering the development of people holistically, and not simply for artistic development. Highlight on the Arts and Music as key subjects in any/every curriculum around the world and discourse with participants that have similar (or not!) thoughts to offer. J. Slöjd och återbruk Hörsalen biblioteket (Crafts and recycling) Recycling or reuse of materials has been a natural part of crafts, long before it became trendy, but it used to be a necessity. Today the driving forces are called creativity and environmental awareness. In this workshop, we make bags re-using old posters. You will also get tips on other crafts projects using recycled materials, which you can do by yourself or with the students. This workshop is led by Eva Carlborg, handicraft consultant, Länskultur Gävleborg. (Gävleborg Council culture) K. Her unique combination of expertise and experience from educational and cultural life makes her lectures an important element in developing today's schools..
L. Barn, dans och framtidstro! Pingstkyrkans danssal (Children, dance and faith in the future) A seminar about the increased interest for dance in school. The focus is on students right to go deeper into the artistic processes and develop their own expression. Children, dance and faith in the future is highlighted. We discuss how to create long term possibilities for students to access dance as an area of study or knowledge in school, from pre-school to High School. Cecilia Björklund Dahlgren, manager of operations for the national institute "Dans i Skolan" (Dance in School) and associate professor at "Danslärarutbildningen i Piteå" (Dance teacher's academy in Piteå) reports on the situation, and discusses approaches and methods to implement dance in schools on all levels Bus to Viksjöforsbaletten (The Viksjöfors ballet company) Dans i glesbygd - skola och föreningsliv i samverkan (Dance in small communities schools and associations in partnership) Viksjöforsbaletten is a non-profit organisation that works with schools via "Skapande skola", "Idrottslyftet", various EU-projects and national projects. Organizational manager Helena Ehrstrand, teacher in Ovanåker municipality as well as an enthusiast for voluntary work describes how this project has evolved since ARTinED performance Viksjöforsbaletten (The Viksjöfors Ballet company) has during the past year focused on the pilot project ARTinED (EU Comenius) in elementary schools in Ovanåker municipality on the themes of dance and the environment. We will see children from different schools "dance" the results of this work.
