4 ABOUT COURSE CATALOG 2015 WISE (for Wine Industry Sales Education) offers a comprehensive curriculum for wine industry professionals. Built from a belief that direct- to-consumer (DTC) results are the key to success in the wine industry, WISE offers the only wine industry education, training and certification program dedicated to direct-to-consumer sales and marketing. All WISE classes and on-site coaching workshops enhance the expertise of direct-toconsumer (DTC) sales and marketing professionals while igniting their passion for producing the kinds of measurable results that lead to winery success. 6 CORE COURSES WISE offers a number of foundational courses that are the basis for all Level I and Level II coursework. These courses are required prerequisites for each level. WISE #101 WINE FLUENCY PROFESSIONAL CORE COURSE Hours: 16 Cost: $350 Prerequisite: Age 21 or older. This 2-day boot camp provides foundational knowledge for anyone working in the wine industry. The course covers wine business basics, sales, marketing and service best practices, uniqueness of viticulture areas, and the principles of professional wine tasting. The concepts learned in WISE #101 are the foundation for all WISE Level I coursework and include training in: Wine Industry Concepts and Terminology Napa Valley Terroir Wine Tastings and Service Standards COURSE CATALOG 2015 At the end of two days, students have the information they need to deliver the kind of exemplary winery experience that visitors to the Napa Valley deserve. Who should take this course? This course is ideally suited for anyone seeking a broader wine business perspective, increased wine tasting confidence or consumer sales effectiveness. It is appropriate for those with limited wine product knowledge or industry experience seeking a position in the wine industry. 7 WISE #201 MANAGEMENT CORE COURSE Hours: 24 Cost: $990 Prerequisite: None Overview: This three-day comprehensive course is designed to raise the bar for wine industry leaders by sharpening their communication and people management skills while building their financial acumen. WISE #201 is a cost-effective way to take both WISE #202 and #203. The first two days (#202) focuses on people management while the third day (#203) covers the basics of winery finance and accounting for non-accountants. People management includes exercises, discussion, and role plays on the follow topics: Communication for leaders Hiring and interviewing techniques Performance management skills Team and meeting skills Finance and accounting topics are applied in individual and group exercises culminating in a hands-on case study so that students learn to: Speak the language of business Build a business by the numbers Appreciate the three bottom lines Compute and review key ratios in a winery Understand the drivers of a successful winery and connect them to actions Students leave this course with the skills required to manage the people and the numbers that drive a successful winery. Who should take this course? WISE #201 is a prerequisite for all Level II Management Certifications. This course is suitable for anyone who manages people in the wine industry including those managing teams focused on consumer direct sales, experienced managers in need of a quick refresher; and new managers seeking to apply best practices. 7

The course builds on the information covered in 101 and provides more tips, tricks, and insights needed to fine-tune in-person sales, communication skills, and advanced wine tasting and service techniques. 9 WISE #112 INSIDE SALES PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION COURSE Hours: 24 Cost: $700 Prerequisite: WISE #101 (or test out) Overview: This 3-day course focuses on the potentially lucrative DTC phone sales channel. Attendees will build confidence in handling inbound and outbound sales calls, explore needs and behaviors of the phone customer, and develop a foundation to drive helpful sales. 18 CERTIFICATE COURSES LEADERSHIP CERTIFICATES LEVEL III WISE #301 CONSUMER DIRECT LEADERSHIP Hours:80 Cost: $4,000 Prerequisite: WISE #201 plus 3 or more Level II WISE Certificates What does it take to lead a fully integrated winery consumer direct program organization? This is the ultimate certificate in DTC leadership for the manager specializing in, or wanting in-depth knowledge of DTC sales. Not only will you learn how to best manage the various silos of consumer direct channels, but more importantly you will also learn how to close the white space in between into one fully integrated consumer direct program. COURSE CATALOG 2015 This class provides a detailed understanding of what it takes to build a great DTC organization. Advanced CRM and best practices by channel (tasting room, club, events, online) are covered along with strategies for integrating systems and making the right resource allocation decisions. Emphasis on the leadership tools required to champion DTC within the organization (e.g. strategic planning, change management) are central to this course. Attendees will work with a sample company as they learn to become comfortable with the language of business. In addition to understanding the three bottom lines, attendees will also learn how to evaluate options, work with key ratios, and spot red flags in financial statements.
