4 Page 4/6 1. Accessing Security Restricted Area 1.1 Employees of Companies Working at the Airport All persons working at the airport and all items carried on the persons or in vehicles are subjected to a security check before permission is granted to enter the so-called security restricted areas (also referred to as critical parts ). The security checks are performed at all personnel access points to the security restricted areas inside the terminals and at all access gates to the apron. The security checks generally include: Check of access authorization (airport ID card and vehicle ID card) Screening of personnel and aircraft crews and items carried by hand search, walk-through metal detection (WTMD) equipment, x-ray equipment or explosive trace detection (ETD) equipment Check of vehicles and airport supplies 1.2 Aircraft Crews and Airlines Before accessing the security restricted areas the access authorization is checked by examining the picture on the crew member certificate or ID card of the airline. The personal documents (German ID card or passport) are checked if there should be any discrepancies. Operating crew, Dead head crew, On duty crew These persons access the security restricted areas via the personnel and goods checkpoints. The border police regulations have to be observed additionally. Off duty crew, Personnel that shuttle or Other airline personnel on business travel Off duty crew, Personnel that shuttle or Other airline personnel on business travel access the security restricted areas only via the aviation security checkpoints used by passengers. 1.3 Members of Foreign Missions in Germany Diplomats, consular officers and persons with equal status access the security restricted areas via a personnel and goods checkpoint only after having presented the airport ID card. Access to the security restricted area is granted after having completed the check procedure. Diplomats, consular officers and persons with equal status have the right to refuse frisking. Should these persons insist on their right to refuse frisking, access to the security restricted area is not granted. 1.4 Police, Customs, Aviation Security Agencies Police officers and customs agents (on duty) and representatives of aviation security agencies (while performing their duties) are not subjected to frisking upon entering security restricted areas once presenting a valid access authorization (airport ID card with hologram proving not being subject to frisking).
5 Page 5/6 2. Special Regulation for Airport Supplies and Carrying Prohibited Items 2.1 Entry of Airport Supplies into Security Restricted Areas The checking of airport supplies of unknown suppliers to find prohibited items is done usually at the checkpoints below the terminals and access gate Tor 120. Under certain conditions, it is possible to be classified as a known supplier by the corporate safety & security department. This means that the check of the supplied items at the access points is not required. Further information is provided on our website: Job Classification for Prohibited Items Carrying of items, such as tools classified as prohibited items (EU-Reg. 185/2010), is only permitted for persons having authorization to take such items into security restricted areas. This authorization must be applied for when filing an airport ID card application. If this authorization is not included on the airport ID card, the security assistants at the personnel and goods checkpoints will not allow the items to be taken into the security restricted areas. 3. Driving in Security Restricted Areas 3.1 Check Procedures at Access Gates to the Apron There will be a vehicle check at all access points into security restricted areas. The check procedure generally includes: Check of access authorization of vehicle and all persons Check of the vehicle to find any prohibited items Screening of personnel and aircraft crews and items carried by hand search, walk-through metal detection (WTMD) equipment, x-ray equipment or explosive trace detection (ETD) equipment Check of all deliveries if unknown supplier 3.2 Accessing Security Restricted Areas The security personnel open the barrier and the driver enters the gate lane. Except for the driver, all further persons in the vehicle get out of the vehicle in front of the barrier. They take all personal items with them into the checkpoint building to pass through the personnel and goods checkpoint. After the check procedure and legitimization at the ID card reader has been completed, these persons may enter the security restricted area. Persons with a M airport ID card (M = authorization to have persons accompany them) go into the checkpoint building to pass through the personnel and goods checkpoint with all persons accompanying them.
6 Page 6/6 The check procedures listed in point 3 above will be conducted in the gate lane. After these procedures have been completed, the security personnel will open the second barrier to enable access to the security restricted area. The vehicle driver may now let his/her accompanying persons back into the vehicle. 3.3 Exiting Security Restricted Areas The exit from the security restricted area (apron) is possible via automatic barriers next to the access gates, without leaving the vehicle.
