Since joining the Rosen College in 2002, Dr. Chen has focused on hospitality and tourism community outreach, on a national and international scale. She served as the 2010 President of the Florida/Caribbean Chapter of Council of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Educators (FL-Caribbean CHRIE). She is an U.S. Fulbright Scholar, a Fulbright Association Mid-Florida Chapter board member, and a 2014 TEDxFulbright USA talent management advisor. Her teaching experience includes research methodology, leadership and strategic management, guest services management, accounting, finance management, hospitality marketing, tourism management, information technology, human resources management, convention and event management, fairs and festivals, and tourism geography. Her efforts earned several teaching awards including the 2012 John Wiley & Sons Award for Innovation in Teaching by I-CHRIE. She received a 2012/2013 Fulbright Lecture Award to Denmark, followed by a 2015 Fulbright Research and Lecture Award to Austria. Dr. Chen specializes in social psychology research, with an emphasis on generational studies, ethics, social entrepreneurship, human resources management, sustainability and cross-cultural research in hospitality and tourism. She has published articles in several leading academic research journals resulting in over 600 citations. Her research has received several awards including the Literati Network Award for Excellence as well as the 2014/2015 Fulbright Research and Teaching Award to Austria focusing on social entrepreneurship.
