2 Dear Colleagues and Friends, As Chair of the ICPPMH 2016 Organising Committee, it is my great pleasure to welcome you all to the 6th International Conference of Physiotherapy in Psychiatry and Mental Health, which will be held in Madrid, Spain, on March 9-11, The Conference is organised by the University Carlos III of Madrid and the International Organization of Physical Therapists in Mental Health, the official subgroup of the World Confederation of Physical Therapy. The event will address innovative and effective strategies to address today s complex health challenges such as mental health, longlasting musculoskeletal disorders, chronic pain, psychosomatics, etc. The theme for the Conference is Communication in a Connected World. This theme reflects on the digital world in our current society where communication is now spread out throughout every aspect of healthcare, enabling greater data sharing for both patients and health professionals, which is in turn empowering health settings and it s not without challenges. We all are working very hard to ensure that the scientific quality of the ICPPMH 2016 Conference in Madrid will be outstanding. The Conference Venue will be at the Hotel Tryp Atocha, which is one of the best locations in the Madrid city centre nearby the museums, art galleries, and historic places. To mention a few of them, the Prado Museum, La Plaza del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Gran Via, and many outstanding restaurants and flamenco dancing shows, as well as historic monuments, parks and gardens. The program includes focused empirical, theoretical, and clinical practice contributions to physiotherapy in mental health and related fields including long-lasting musculoskeletal disorders, chronic pain, psychosomatics, etc. The participation of colleagues from all regions of the World is ensured as we have received registration from all continentes of the World and approximately 30 nationalities. We wish you a pleasant and productive stay in Madrid and since life is not only work, do not forget to spare some time visiting Madrid. And be careful with the small and charming bars in the narrow streets of the old town, they are pretty addictive! Welcome to Madrid, Daniel Catalan, PT, PhD President of the Organising Committee On behalf of the International Organization of Physical Therapy in Mental Health 2
