This specification covers the requirements of re-enterable splice closure kits used for covering the splice conductors of aerial air core non-pressurized cable (Copper Cable) by Triple T Broadband Public Co., Ltd The re-enterable splice closure kits after referred to as the Aerial Closure shall comply with the requirements of this specification Documentations Bidder shall include in his aid sufficient information to permit a correct evaluation at the bid in relation to the specification including at least. Failure in this section the proposal shall be disqualified. Outline drawing showing principal dimensions and all materials used for each component and complete specification. Test report issued by the manufacturer to certify the product offered meeting the requirements as specified herein. Instruction describing the product of installation and re-opening. 2. GENERAL REQUIRMENTS 2.1. Closure Configurations The Aerial Closure shall be designed to handle all cable configurations according to the following definitions Straight an opening is provided for only one cable to enter each end of the closure. Branch Opening are provided for two or more cables enter one end of the closure Closure Housing The closure housing shall be compatible with all materials used in the construction of cable, bonding and grounding devices, chemicals, and splicing materials presently approved for use and which the closure would contact under normal use.

2 The closure housing shall be designed to be used as a free breathing and floating bond The closure housing shall be vented to prevent core water build up. The vents shall be provided to prevent insect entry in to the closure The closure housing shall be provided an external grounding stud which fixed firmly and strong enough at right bottom of back cover as shown in figure 2, and connect to cable shield with ground wire. When tighten the external grounding stud shall not be loosen or free The top of closure housing shall be secured with the over-center latch fasteners, which can be opened and closed without the use of tools. The cover shall swing down on its hinge to open the Aerial Closure. The number of the over-center latch fasteners shall depend on type and manufacturer s design The cable shield bonding shall be separated from the support bar and strand hangers. There shall be no electrical connect ability between the cable shield bonding and the support bar including strand hangers The Aerial Closure shall be equipped with two strand hangers for easier installation. All fastener hardware used for strand hanger such as nuts, bolts and other mounting hardware etc., shall be captivated to prevent accidental loss during installation and maintenance Both ends of closure shall be seal with spiral end caps. The spiral end caps can be sized, or selfadjusted to size, to seal the range of cables consistent with the splice diameters that will fit into the closures Installation of the closure shall not require special tools or instruments other than those normally carried by splicer of craftsman. 27. The closure kit shall consist of the following components: a) Closure Housing 1 set b) Support bar and PVC (or 1 set PE) insulated sleeve c) Strand Hangers 2 set d) Spiral end caps 2 pcs e) Shield continuity kitsas specified in Figure 1, Table I f) Ground wire 1 pc g) Installation in Thai or English language, include the description how to install and number of shield continuity wire and shield connector to be used or cable gauge and pair sizes. 3 OES Shield Continuity Kits One set of shield continuity kit shall composed of one shield continuity wire, two shield connectors and two heat protection sheets as follows Shield continuity wire/ground wire The wire consist of two pieces of minimum 1 mm thick electro-tin plated tempered brass terminal lugs and crimped to 0.75 mm thick PVC or PE insulated (green color), flexible tinned copper wire with minimum 19 stranded wires and minimum cross section area mm 2 (10 AWG) at each end. The length of shield continuity wire and ground wire shall depend on type of Aerial Closure and manufacturers design, but shall be easy to splice and install. The terminal lugs shall accommodate to shield connectors and grounding stud. The shield continuity wire and ground wire having insulated braid type with eyelets and equivalent property are allowable Shield connector The shield connector shall consist of four parts: lower member (base) with stud, upper member (top), two securing nuts (lock nut). The lower member shall be made of electro-tin plated tempered brass, and shall be burred perforated to make a good contact with cable shield. The stud shall be made of stainless steel (grade 300 series stainless steel) or electro-tin plated tempered brass and secured to lower plate, not loose or free during fastening. The upper member with teeth shall make of electro-tin plated tempered or brass to firmly grip the cable sheath. The two hexagonal lock nuts shall be made of stainless steel (grade 300 series stainless steel) or electro-tin plated tempered brass. The lower and upper member plated shall be slightly curved to exert a continuous spring force on sheath and shield after clamping. The shield connector shape used may be different from the shield connector shown in figure 1 but its major assembly parts and material used shall conform this section Heat protection sheet The heat protection sheet shall be made of minimum 0.45 mm thick, fire-retardant (UL94- V0) plastic material. Its dimension shall be suitable with shield connector. The heat protection sheet shall be used for inserting between shield connector and cable core to protect cable core from heat during electrical surge. 4 OES External grounding The external grounding stud shall made of electro-tin plated tempered brass or stainless steel (grade 300 series) and formed into good design no obstruction for installation and closure performance The external grounding shall at least accommodate to a # 6 AWG copper wire and provided the two hexagonal lock nuts and made of stainless steel (grade 300 series) or electrotin plated tempered brass The external grounding stud shall be completely provided and already fixed with the back cover (see Figure 2). 5 3. MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS The materials used in all components of the Aerial Closure must function in the application environment. Corrosion Metals shall be resistant and/or protected against general corrosion. Chemical Plastics shall be resistant to deterioration when exposed to ultra-violet rays of the sun for prolonged periods. 31. The closure housing shall be made from black durable high density thermoplastic, which resists to solvent and stress cracking and be compatible with all materials used in the construction of cable, bonding and grounding devices, chemicals, and splicing materials presently approved for use and which the closure would contact under normal use. 32. The support bar shall be made of minimum 1.5 mm thick aluminum sheet (or grade 300 series stainless steel) in U-shape. The PVC (or PE) sleeve shall be black color and at least 0.8 mm thick. The support bar shall be fully insulated and covered by such sleeves The spiral end caps shall be made of black high density closed cell foam rubber. The closed cell foam rubber shall be made of EPDM (Ethylene propylene diene monomer) or better quality material. The closed cell foam rubber shall fit snugly around each cable, prevent the entrance of water into the splice, keep insects from entering closure, The closed cell foam rubber, which are installed in the closure ends, shall be pre-cut and have perforated punchouts to accommodate a large of cable diameters The over-center latch fasteners shall be made of minimum 2.4mm diameter stainless steel, grade 304 meeting all the requirement of the ASTM A358 Standard Specification for Electric- Fusion-Welded Austenitic Chromium-Nickel Stainless Steel Pipe for High-Temperature Service and General Applications (or grade 300 series stainless steel). The number of overcenter latch fasteners shall depend on type of closures and manufacturers design. 35. The strand hangers shall be made of stainless steel (grade 300 series stainless steel) or aluminum. The hexagonal head of lock bolts shall be made of stainless steel (grade 300 series stainless steel) or electro-tin plated brass. 36. The other metallic components excluding specified as per sections 3.1 to 3.5 shall be made of stainless steel (grade 300 series stainless steel) or aluminum All parts of external grounding terminal shall be made of stainless steel (grade 300 series stainless steel) or electro-tin plated tempered brass. 6 4. PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS 4.1. Electrical Requirements Shield Connector Resistance The contact resistance between shield connector and cable shield shall be less than 2 mfl. The measurement technique must conform to ASTM B Method C Surge Test The bonding between the shield connector and cable shield shall be capable of withstanding a current of 500 Amps for 3 seconds (except RAI type applied 300 Amps for 3 seconds). After testing, the shield connector shall be display no evidence of crack, breaking or melting, no damage shall occur to the cable core or the outer sheath adjacent to the bond Tensile pull-out The shield connector shall be attached to the cable shield and tested at temperature 27+5C, the speed of jaw separation shall be 50 mm/mm. The tensile pull-out shall not be less than 300 N Mechanical Requirements The term ~complete closure assembly refers to a test sample in which a closure has been completely assembled (including bonding, etc.) according to the manufacturer s instructions over an actual cable splice made with unfilled single wire connectors or modular connectors, using a fold-back splice Impact A completed closure assembly shall be subjected to an impact of 1.4 kg-m, at ambient room temperature. The apparatus shall consist of a cylindrical steel impacting head weighing 2 kg. The test procedure shall be as follows The closure assembly with cable stubs shall be attached to steel wire strand simulating an aerial installation. The assembly shall be constrained to prevent the closure from rotating beyond 90ฐ of it normal position. The impacting head weighing 2 kg shall be at least 25 mm in diameter and shall have spherical radius on the end which impacts the closure. The test assembly shall be positioned to ensure the impacting head strike the assembly at the approximate mid-point of its dimensions. The impact head shall be released from a test stand with a pendulum motion though a height of 0.6 m to achieve the required impact force. Any damage or cracking to the closure housing constitutes failure of this test. Page 6 of 9

7 Axial Pull Test A completed closure assembly shall be subjected to axial cable sheath movement of 100mm from the normally assembled position. The cable stubs shall be of sufficient length to provide for grasping the cable 0.5 m from its entrance into the closure. After subjecting each cable entering the closure to this movement the sheath opening shall not extend outside the closure Re-entry Test The closure housing shall withstand the re-entry of cover at least 500 cycles. A re-entry cycle shall consist of : swing the font cover up and down with swinging angle of 135 ± 5, 20 cycles per minute. After complete the test, the hinge of the closure shall show no evidence of cracking Environmental Requirements Temperature Cycling The assembled closure shall be exposed to a temperature cycle from 40 F (4.4 C) to 140 F (60 C) at 95% relative humidity as per Figure 3 for 30 days. Allow the Aerial Closure to stabilize at room temperature for a minimum of 2 hours after complete temperature cycles. There shall be no visible deterioration, deformation, melting or cracking of aged samples Fungus Resistance The method shall follow in principle of ASTM G-21 latest issue. A rating of 0 is required Ultraviolet Resistance The samples cut from non-materials of closure shall be subjected to 700 hours exposure per ASTM G-26 and ASTM D-2565, procedure A, using type RH apparatus. The exposed samples shall be tested for tensile strength and elongation per ASTM D-638 at 50 mmlminute. A comparison of values after the test shall be made. A drop of 20% or more in properties constitutes failure Carbon Black Content The samples cut from plastic ofclosure shall be tested the content of carbon black in accordance with ASTM D-1603 latest issue. The content of carbon black shall not be less than 2% by weight. Page 7 of 9

8 Salt Fog The assembled closure shall be exposed to a salt fox spray in accordance with ASTM B-I 17 for 30 days. After testing, remove out the closure from the chamber and wash with warm, clean water. All metallic components of the closure shall be examined with naked eyes. There shall be no evidence of corrosion of metallic components. 5. MARKING 51. The closure shall be identifiable and permanently marked by the manufacturer s name. The month and year of manufacture shall be clearly located on the closure to provide traceability The closure shall show a permanent TTT trade-mark or logo, if specified in commercial condition. 6. 9 6.1. The type of inlets and outlets (SE, DE, and TE) shall be specified in the bid form. SE: Single Entry End Cap DE: Double Entry End Cap TE: Triple Entry End Cap 6.2. The connectors types used for this closure are as follows The single connectors in accordance with TTT s specification Standard latest issue shall be used for cable less than 300 pairs The wire connectors module with gel encapsulated in accordance with TTT s specification standard latest issue shall be used for cable not less than 300 pairs The dimensions of the closure shall be suitable with the pair of cable spliced which specified in Table PACKING Each aerial splice closure kit shall be packed in specially designed reinforced cardboard box and labeled to show contract number, the description, type, size and the name of the supplier.
