2 Professional Managers Annual Conference Adding value to business schools December 2015, Regent s University London The management and governance of business schools, as with all matrix institutions, is no easy matter. Moreover, ever increasing demands from politicians, university leaders, and students, coupled with rapidly changing regulations and policies, make the work of professional services teams ever more critical, complex and challenging. Yet, despite playing a vital role within business schools, professional managers still report that they are often undervalued and even seen as simply a spare pair of hands for their academic colleagues. On the 3 & 4 December 2015 the Chartered Association of Business s hosts its annual conference for professional managers. Gathering heads of administration, school managers, senior operating officers, faculty managers, accreditation and other specialist managers from UK business schools, this year s programme explores both why professional managers add value to their institutions and how this value can be increased in practical and measurable ways.
