2 Colleges Sport Maker Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, Darlington and Hartlepool Sixth Form College are looking to appoint a Colleges Sport Maker who will enhance the range of sporting activities available as part of the Colleges Enrichment programmes. There will be a particular emphasis on engaging students who have become non-participants since moving on to College. You will be expected to work as part of the well-established Sport teams at both Colleges as well as with local Community Sports partners. You will have a Level 4 (degree equivalent) Sports qualification, experience of sports leadership and development and a Level 2 coaching qualification. A driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential due to the nature of the role and you must be able to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends. You will have a wide interest in a range of sporting activities, including outdoor education. You will be well organised, have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to work in a creative and innovative way to develop sports activities. 3 JOB DESCRIPTION Postholder: Post: Responsible to: Colleges Sport Maker Director of Studies (Enrichment) (QE) Director of Sport and Enrichment (Hartlepool) OVERALL ROLE OF THE POST The Sport maker will work jointly for Hartlepool Sixth Form College and Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College with time being shared equally between the two Colleges. To drive the improvement and enhancement of the existing college-based sport enrichment programmes for students aged between 16 and 19, with a particular emphasis on working to engage students who have become non-participants in sport since moving on to College To act as the main link person with Darlington and Hartlepool Sports Partnerships and develop links with a broad range of local community sports groups so that young people can be signposted towards community sport involvement. To work as part of a team to develop sporting activity for students aged between across the Tees Valley To ensure effective implementation of the colleges sport development plans. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST 1. To enhance and improve the development and provision of sport across the colleges, specifically as part of the enrichment programme and to work with key local sporting partners to signpost more young people into participation in sport in the community. 2. To be fully involved in the delivery of extra-curricular college sports and physical activity enrichment programme. 3. To work as part of a team to develop the colleges sports and physical activity enrichment programme. 4. To be involved in the development of Student Sports Management Teams in both Colleges and drive intramural college programmes in line with other initiatives.

To enhance the range of sporting activities so that the two Colleges work in partnership to develop young people s sporting and cultural horizons, and to promote the benefits and successes of the colleges work in this area to ensure it has a high profile both internally and externally. 6. To monitor and evaluate the colleges progress in relation to the national targets for participation and the colleges sports development plans in order to contribute to the overall national monitoring and evaluation process. 7. To be actively involved in delivering sessions and showcasing a wide range of opportunities with the emphasis on improving participation by under-represented social groups e.g. female students and disabled students. 8. To work with partner schools to develop programmes to encourage students progressing on to College to continue to participate in sport. This job description is a guide to the major responsibilities of the post holder. Other duties may be added at the reasonable request of the Principal and the job description itself may be revised from time to time (after discussion with the Principal) as the needs of the College change.

6 Salary and Conditions of Service This is a full time post for a five-year fixed term in the first instance. Working time is 37 hours per week with contractual hours of 8.30am pm Monday to Thursday, and 8.30am pm on a Friday with one hour each day for lunch. However, an amount of flexibility will be expected to meet the requirements of the job, with some evening and weekend work for which time will be given in lieu. The annual leave entitlement is 26 days plus public holidays per annum. Three days annual leave must be taken over the Christmas period during the Colleges closure period. The salary for this post will be point 30 on the support staff payspine, currently 22,716 per annum. The contract will be based on a model for support staff produced by the National Joint Council of the Sixth Form College's Employers' Forum. s are expected to take place during w/c 10 December 2012 and the successful candidate will be expected to take up the appointment before the end of January 2013.
