Introduction The Storage Made Easy solution allows IT to regain control of cloud data sprawl by unifying private/public company data and privately used employee cloud data solutions into a single converged infrastructure that includes OpenStack Swift The SME Solution adds enterprise file share and sync combined with a cloud control gateway that that focuses on secure file sharing, collaboration, governance and audit controls. The solution can be used to set and enforce governance and audit controls for file access and sharing in addition to providing deep content search of data stored on OpenStack Swift using its integration with Apache SOLR. The solution provides network cloud drives (CIFS) for use of OpenStack Swift data directly from the desktop

4 and also sync to desktop Apps for Windows, Mac and Linux. Integrations are also provided for Outlook, Mac Mail, Microsoft Office, OpenOffice, and enterprise SaaS system such as Salesforce, in which files can be stored privately on OpenStack Swift but are accessible from Salesforce. The SME approach provides a solution to the shadow IT conundrum and makes it possible for companies to find a balance between the protection of corporate data and employee data by allowing businesses to monitor, secure and audit all data silos, be they private or cloud or company or employee, from a single access point. 1.1 Objective StorageMadeEasy supports OpenStack Swift as storage provider, the purpose of this exercise was to certify SME on Mirantis distribution of openstack. Product Overview The SME software Appliance enables business to rapidly take advantage of Mirantis OpenStack Swift with support for a business ready Web File Manager, cloud drive integration into Mac, Windows, Linux Desktop's, and also instant access to files via Android, BlackBerry, iphone/ipad and Windows Phone mobile clients. To ensure interoperability with other hardware and software services and easy access to OpenStack Swift files, Storage Made Easy adds standard API's to the OpenStack Swift platform, such as WebDav, FTP/S, and SFTP. The SME OpenStack Swift offering also has built in support for backing files up to other Clouds so that users can have the security of knowing their data is highly available. Testing We ran our standard test suite to test the functionality using OpenStack Swift on Mirantis platform. This included full coverage of API, user interface and native clients. All tests were successful.
