3 Course Selection Plan out all four years. Remember graduation requirements: Four years of English and PE / Health Three years of Math and Science Including Geometry and Biology Three years of History courses (I, II & World) ne year of World Language 5 credits in Practical Art 5 credits in Visual / Performing Art 2.5 credits in Financial Literacy Community Service 120 credits in total Princeton University You must adhere to all stated guidelines including exhausting our curriculum and taking both the AP class and the AP exam. 5 Course Selection Advancing a course level requires permission! Math advancement has a specific form that you must use. Science advancement requires approval by Dr. Sprague! You can find information at our website: phs.princetonk12.org/guidance Always check your pre-requisites. Most of them are based on grades if you don t have the grade requirement, it means we are concerned about your ability to be successful in that next level class. There is nothing wrong with earning A s in nonaccelerated courses.

6 Test Calendar Junior year is the showcase year! This is the year to stretch in areas you are passionate about. Start planning out your testing calendar now Try not to take more than one exam per month. ctober: PSATs January & March: SATs April: ACTs May: APs June: SAT IIs SAT or ACT?

8 SAT II and AP exams SAT IIs are subject based tests. Students can take this test at any grade level. SAT IIs should be taken when the course is completed, and fresh in your mind. We suggest June! For Sophomores: Perhaps history and chemistry or math depending on current placement. For example: AP United States History or Chemistry Accelerated AP examinations are for college credits, typically not for college admissions.

9 Score Choice Some schools may allow you to only send your best scores. Score choice gives you the option to choose which scores to send to colleges. For SAT I You send by test date For SAT II You send by individual test

10 College Search Naviance: Naviance is a college and career readiness software that allows students to search for colleges, careers, and even look at their own personal scores versus acceptances. Start by completing the about me section, and take personality and career profile assessment to help you narrow down fit. Register by going to our website or seeing your counselor. 18 College Tips Within one hour of Princeton you can experience a variety of colleges: Rutgers is a great example of a large state research institute UPenn or Drexel for two types of city colleges TCNJ for a closed suburban college feel Swarthmore or Haverford for a small liberal arts college Mercer County Community College Culinary Institute or Arts Academy (both available in NY and Philadelphia)
