4 Dennis, Your FTP site has been created: Full Access (Gilbane Use ONLY) Username: mwroest Password: estftp! Upload/Download Only (Subs, Architects, etc) Username: mwrosub Password: subcontractor There are two ways to get to the site. 1. Use Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) to go to ftp://files.gilbanetech.com. (On your desktop right-click on Start Select Explore - In address bar of new window, enter ftp://files.gilbanetech.com and hit Enter) This method allows you to upload/download (drag and drop) multiple files at a time. 2. Install a FTP client program on your computer. We recommend FileZilla. This client will allow you to upload multiple files at a time and tends to be much more stable than Internet Explorer especially when uploading or downloading multiple/large files. (the link to the FileZilla software is at the end of the ) 4

5 After you install and open the FileZilla client, you ll see a toolbar across the top with spaces to enter the Host, Username, Password and Port with a QuickConnect button at the end. Enter the following for each and then click on Quickconnect. Host: Username: Password: files.gilbanetech.com (enter username here) ( enter password here) Port: 21 You ll see a bunch of text scroll through and stop when it has successfully connected to the FTP Server. Now that you are connected you can transfer files up to the FTP Server. On the left hand side, you ll see what s called the Local site. This is your computer. You can navigate to a folder in the top window. Selecting a folder will display its contents in the window below. On the right hand side, you ll see what s called the Remote site. This is the FTP server. You can drag and drop folders and files from your computer to the FTP server. 6 FileZilla has a web tutorial on how to connect and transfer here: and GTG FILE TRANSFER PROTOCOL (FTP) POLICY * DO NOT USE YOUR FTP SITE AS A FILE STORAGE FACILITY -After you have confirmed that the files uploaded to your FTP site have been retrieved successfully by the recipient, DELETE those files from the site. -Files remaining on any FTP site for over 30 days are subject to deletion without prior notification. The FTP server is not part of a backup schedule, so files lost or deleted are not recoverable. -Important files can and should be stored on a file server that is backed up regularly and has ample disk space available.
