1 Fire safety issues. Solved. efectis group The European experts in fire safety
2 GROUP Efectis is a global player in fire science and covers all fire safety expertise in testing and modeling, certification, education and inspection. To always offer safer living environments, the Efectis teams expand their skills to include other safety domains such as structural integrity, pathology assessment of materials, components and systems, and life prediction and durability for new and old buildings, monuments and infrastructures. GROUP IN SOME FIGURES 7 companies dedicated to fire science including 4 laboratories 2 teams dedicated to pathology and diagnostics of buildings, structures and construction materials: Stonevox and OutLabs Structures Nearly 200 employees across 16 sites Recognised as an official testing institute for more than 60 years 3 strategic partners Era Yönetim (Turkey) Ifopse (France) FluidAlp (France) More than 2300 tests carried out in 2014 (reaction to fire and fire resistance tests) A consolidated turnover of over 24M in fire resistance furnaces 15 facilities for reaction to fire testing More than 800 accreditations
3 Fire testing in laboratories Efectis extensive testing facilities allow us to carry out almost any type of fi re test. These vary from standardized tests up to tailor made tests. FIRE RESISTANCE TESTING (UNDER TESTING STANDARDS: ISO, HC, HCM, RWS, IMO, EN, UL, FM, ASTM) AD HOC TESTING REACTION TO FIRE TESTING (UNDER TESTING STANDARDS: ISO, EN, IMO) Penetration seal test n Structural elements: fl oors, ceilings, columns, beams, etc. n Construction products: doors, partitions, glass, etc. n Fire protection products: intumescent coatings, sprayed products, boards, etc. n Safety equipment: dampers, fans, etc. n Jet fi re testing for on and offshore industry n Fire spread in building frontages: Lepir 2 Storage fi re Efectis can qualify if your product is fi re safe. We can do this in our laboratories, as well as on location and this in a tailor-made way. Reconstruction of real fi res or fi res scenarios are possible. Reaction to fi re test for electric cables n Small burner n Calorimetric bomb n Non combustibility n Single Burning Item (SBI) n Radiant Floor Panel n Flame spread and persistence equipment n Cone calorimeter n Room corner test CALORIMETRIC HOOD TESTING REAL SCALE TESTS FIREFIGHTING SYSTEMS TESTING The calorimetric hood Efectis can make calorimetric hood testing of manufactured products or furniture, such as seats, vehicles, infl ammable liquid,... in order to determine the heat release rate, the mass loss, the toxic gas, the emissivity, the fi re spread, etc. and up to 10MW. Real scale fi re testing of a warehouse construction Efectis can realize real scale fi re test in the framework of research project or for design construction product validation in order to demonstrate the effi ciency of the custumer s systems, such as: failure mode of structures, fi re behavior of structure elements or fi re wall, fi re development model validation, extinguishing system validation etc. Fire exercise in Skövde - Fire college (Sweden) n Portable fi re extinguishing n Hose reels n Fire hydrants n Other products for active fi re protection
4 Innovation More than just a standard activity, the «Innovation spirit», in direct links with the R&D program, is part of the Efectis genetics. The Efectis teams are developing scientifi c approaches, tests benches and equipment. The best illustration is the creativity in the fi eld of ad-hoc tests, a specifi c and new problem to be solved where Efectis imagines a new test equipment and test method. Furthermore, the practical experience of Efectis allows designing whole test facilities. These skills are also used to provide the best possible tests and expertise to their customers. Now the technologies are implemented in systems built by privileged partners, whose design and test equipment are issued with the Efectis Technology label. This innovation spirit is also refl ected in the services the teams are able to propose, as pioneers. This allows Efectis to be proactive in the safety services, answering with more accuracy the customer s present and future needs. n Laboratory and research centres design by Efectis n New furnace concepts n... On-site fire testing Efectis created the «Efectis OutLabs» companies to propose the same Efectis in laboratory quality level, but outside them. IN SITU TESTS Efectis Outlabs Ventilation is a company dedicated to perform in-situ tests (in tunnels, offi ces, high rise buildings ) related to smoke exhaust and ventilation systems. n Mechanical smoke exhaust system testing n Natural smoke exhaust system testing n Full scale tunnel testing MOBILE FURNACE Smoke exhaust test in a train station (UNDER TESTING STANDARD ISO, HCM AND RWS) Efectis is the fi rst company in the world that is able to perform realistic fi re resistance testing on-site using mobile furnaces. The MobiFire can be applied to all kinds of structural elements, such as ceilings, fl oors, roofs and walls. The damage to the structure will be very limited, thanks to the fi re controllability. All fi re curves are possible (ISO, RWS, HCM) for any desired duration. The MobiFire allows to demonstrate the fi re resistance capabilities of the construction element. Especially this is of interest for concrete structures, where the spalling behavior has to be determined adequately. Using the Mobifi re in a tunnel Pathology and diagnosis of buildings and construction materials Stonevox and OutLabs Structures are dedicated to diagnosis, analysis and consulting in buildings. Stonevox is dedicated to historic buildings of all types (classifi ed buildings, ancient monuments, churches, works of art such as sculptures, etc.). OutLabs Structures is specialized in modern buildings, infrastructures, industrial constructions, public work, etc. Both Stonevox and OutLabs Structures provide : n Diagnosis to analyse and identify the pathologies providing: n Recommendations on how to fi x them n Presentation of technical specifi cations n Estimations of cost and period of work n Technical consultancy in the different situations an owner can face: n Maintenance n Security (structural, public use...) n Rehabilitation work planning and survey n Assessment of innovative repairing technologies n A comprehensive approach, as a system approach, through the historical, patrimonial, aesthetical, structural and functional scopes including the physical, chemical and durability aspects of the built-in materials n Instrumentation, life prediction and durability of buildings Cracking in the junction area of pre-stressed hollow-core slabs.
