1 MARC H. CHOKO, 1947 Marc H. Choko is a professor at the École de design at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), where he has taught since 1977, and a former director of research at the Institut national de la recherche scientifique s Centre Urbanisation, Culture et Société ( ). From 1999 until 2008, he was also director of the UQAM Centre de design. He earned his bachelor s degree in architecture from Université de Montréal in 1973, and he holds a master s degree in planning from the same university (1976) as well as a doctorate in urban planning from Université Paris VIII (1981). He is the author of numerous reports, articles, and books on urban development and housing issues, both national and international, including one on China, where he was a consultant and associate professor from 1991 to He is also a poster design enthusiast who began collecting posters in the mid-1960s and has conducted research into such aspects as their production in Québec and the rest of Canada. Since the early 1980s, he has been organizing exhibitions, including several in the capacity of curator, and publishing works on the subject. Since 2009, Mr. Choko has taught the course Design graphique et culture (DES 6221) at the École de design at UQAM.
