Many of the lectures will be posted using the university course manager program. I often use this as a way to help students organize notes, but I do not limit the content to those notes and will not hesitate to digress based on class interests and needs. 5. Choose one of the following five books and review for class discussion. These are available in most public libraries or through Amazon.com 3A. Aging with Grace, the Nuns Study by David Snowdon, 2001, Bantam Books Course Expectations and Evaluation: Expectations: Students are expected to respect one another. They should come to class prepared, having reviewed the notes from the previous classes and completed the Articles (after the first class) prior to coming to class. The instructor must also come prepared and be respectful. Tests are expected to be taken during the class times. Late tests will be penalized ten points for each day taken late unless an excused medical reason or family emergency. The grade for the course will be primarily determined as outlined below. If you are late on the book review, your grade will be lowered. Cheating such as text messaging or copying during a test or plagiarism is not acceptable, and will result in failure for the course, not just for the specified assignment. Evaluation:

Attendance/Participation Your thoughtful participation is a valued component of the course. Most students benefit from the class interactions, participation and opportunities for critical thinking. You can not participate if you are not here. 2. Quizzes will consist of a mix of multiple choice, fill in and short and or long essay. They will be based on notes, video, Articles and class discussions. 3. Review of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans will provide an opportunity to explore the newest advice released by the US government 4. Critique and discussion of book. Each student will have the opportunity to critique and discuss either one of the five books identified above. Please prepare a 2-3 page critique of the book describing the key message of the author, relate to specific concepts/discussions considered in the class, consider the genre employed, the potential audience, and the pros and cons of this book.
