AvailablePrograms CamphillCommunitiesCaliforniaoperatestwodifferentresidentialprogramsaswellas acommunityactivitiesprogram.brieflytheyare: ResidentialProgram ThisprogramisinalicensedcarefacilityandissuitableforRegionalCenterLevel2and 3clients.Clients(friends)mustbeabletowalk,managestairs,eat,anddress unassisted.theycangenerallyfollowdirections,participateingroupactivitiesandbe supervisedwithotherfriends.theymayrequirespecialdietsandhaveseizuresthatare substantiallycontrolledbymedication.wehavetwolargehomes(namedishiand Marimi)servingupto6clientseach.Theseclientsreceivefinancialsupportforservices fromsanandreasregionalcenter(sarc).sarcfundingissupplementedbysupport fromfamiliesaswellasdonations. 1
2 SupportedLivingProgram Thisprogramiscomposedofsmallerhomeswithoneortwofriendsineachhome. Thesehomesareidealforfriendswhoareolder,requireadditionalsupervisionor sociallypreferasmallersetting.theyarealsoideaformoreindependentindividuals whohavefewerneedsanddesireagreatlevelofprivacyandautonomythantheymay receiveinalargerhomesetting.wehavethreesuchhomesaulinta,lindenand Sunrose.ThesefriendsalsoreceivefinancialsupportforservicesfromSARC. CommunityActivitiesProgram OurCommunityActivitiesProgramisadayprogramextensionofCamphilllifeand includesweaving,lightandheavygardening,foodprocessing,andhomemaking activities.atypicalscheduleismadeupofarotationamongactivities.mostofour programparticipantsworkatcamphill.however,occasionallyanindividualinoneof ourresidentialprogramsmayattendadayprogramoutsideofthecommunity,basedon his/herindividualneeds. AdmissionforResidentialandDayPlacement Afteraninitialvisitandtour,familieswhoareinterestedinpursuingaplacementwill workwithouradmissionsdirector.theadmissionsprocessincorporatesseveralvisits andassessments.ifcamphillcalifornia,thefamilyandthecandidateallagreethat Camphillisagoodchoicethentheprocessisasfollows: Afteratourandseriesofvisits,thecandidateisinvitedtojoinourwaitinglist Openingsarefilledfromourwaitinglist(Pleasebeawarethattheprocesstobe placedonthewaitinglistcantakeseveralmonths) Onceonthelistitcantakeanywherefrom60daysto2yearsforanappropriate openingtobeavailable. 3 3 AdmissionProcess STEP1:Takeatour Pleasemakeanappointmentforoneofourregularone7hourtoursandbringyour familymembertothetour.ifyouandyourfamilymemberhavealreadybeenonatour, sign7uponlineatwww.camphillca.org. STEP2:Morningvisit Onceyou vedecidedtopursuehavingyourfamilymemberjoinourcommunity,we wanttogettoknowyouandyourfamilymemberalittlebetter.typically,wewillinvite youbothtocomeandspendalittletimewithus.thismorningvisitisaoneandahalf hourmeetingwithafewmembersofourfriendadmissionsgroupaswellasthe DevelopmentDirectorandExecutiveDirector.Thishelpsusunderstandyourfamily s goalsandgivesusachancetoseeifyourfamilymembercanhaveameaningfullifein ourcommunity. 1. FamilyParticipation:EachfamilyisexpectedtosupportandparticipateinCamphill Californiaanditsshortandlong7termneedsanddevelopment.Eachfamilywillmeet thedevelopmentdirectorandlearnaboutthedifferentwaysthattheycanoffer theirsupport. 2. Collaboration:BecauseCamphillisacommunityandmanyofourresidentswill spendmostoftheiradultliveswithus,wewanttoestablishacollaborative relationshipwithfamilymembers.ifappropriate,wearehappytoinvolvesiblingsor otherengagedfamilymembersinouradmissionsdiscussions. Tomakeanarrangementforamorningvisit,please theAdmissionsDirectorat admissions@camphillca.org.unfortunatelywearenotabletoschedulemorningvisitsif ourwaitinglistisclosed. STEP3:Dayvisitforassessment OnceyouandtheAdmissionsDirectoragreethatyourfamilymemberisapotential candidateforcamphill,youwillscheduleadayvisitforanassessment.priortoarriving foryourdaywithus,weaskthatyoufilloutandsendusanapplication.pleasealso adviseyourfamilymember'sservicecoordinatorthatyouwanttoforplacementatccc. Theservicecoordinatorwillberesponsibleforsendingareferralpacketfromthe regionalcentersothatwecanbefullypreparedforyourtimewithus.unfortunatelywe arenotabletoscheduledayvisitsifourwaitinglistisclosed. Adayvisitconsistsofvisitingspecificworkshopsandprogramsforthefamilyand thecandidate.candidatesandtheirfamiliesdonotworkinourworkshopsbut ratherhavetheopportunitytomeetotherfriendsandmembersofourfriends AdmissionsGroupandgetafeelingforwhatdailylifeislikeforus.Thecandidate willhavetheopportunitytospendtimewiththemembersofourfriendadmissions Group.Generallythefamilywillberesponsibleforsupervisingthecandidate.The visitusuallyincludesamealandparticipationinotherdayactivities.attheendof thevisitthecandidateandfamilywillmeetwithadmissionsdirectorforan exchangeofviews. 2. ACamphill7supervisedvisitisavisitwithuswheretheparentsorfamilymembers arenotpresentatcamphill.thecandidateparticipatesfullyinourdayprogram duringtheirvisit.thisvisittypicallyincludesparticipationinonemealandmay includeotherdayactivities.amemberofourfriendsadmissionsgroupisassigned tothecandidatefortheentirevisitandisresponsibleforoverseeingtheiractivities throughoutthevisit.attheendofthevisittheadmissiondirectorwillcontactthe familyforanexchangeofviews. 3.IfthereistobeanovernightvisitthisrequirespriorapprovalandaPurchaseof Service(POS)agreementforrespitefromtheSanAndreasRegionalCenter(SARC), whichmaytakesometimetoarrange.oncethesespecialarrangementshavebeen made,theadministratorandadmissionsdirectorwillmakeinternalcamphill arrangementsandworkwiththefamilyforasuitabletime.attheendofthevisit theadmissionsdirectorwillcontactthefamilyforanexchangeofviews. STEP4:Evaluationofthedayvisit 1. OurFriendsAdmissionsGroupmeetstoformallyreviewthevisitandseeksfeedback fromcommunitymemberswhointeractedwiththecandidateaboutthecandidate s apparentsuitability,andwhichcombinationofserviceswouldbebesttomeettheir needs. 2.Iftherecommendationispositive,ourAdmissionsDirectorwillnotifythefamily thatthecandidateisnowonourwaitinglistandwillkeepthefamilyinformedof theprospectsforopenings.thefamilyisencouragedtobecomeapartoflarger communitycircleandparticipateinsocialandculturaleventswhilewaitingfora suitableopening. STEP5:Identificationofanappropriateopening 1. Whenweanticipateanopeningwewillworkwiththefamilyandthecandidateto makearrangements.criticalatthisjunctureisthatyourfamilymembersees Camphillasaplacethattheyenjoylivingandthattherehavebeennosubstantive changesintheiraspirationsorneedssincetheirassessment. 4
5 ForafamilywhowishestohavetheirfamilymembersupportedbyRegionalCenter funds: PleasebeintouchwithyourRegionalCenterandaskthemtogenerateareferral packet.areferralpacketmustgotothesanandreasregionalcenter(sarc) andsarcwillprovidethereferralpackettocamphill. Ifthefamilymemberisservedbyanotherregionalcenter,theirservice coordinatormustcontactsarcandaskforacourtesyvendorization.sarcwill receivethereferralpacket;reviewit;andthenforwardittous. TheindividualorfamilymemberalsoneedstoensurethatthecurrentIPPnotes theirdesiretotransitiontooneofcamphillcommunitiescaliforniaresidential programsand,inmostcases,communityactivitiesprogram. Oncewehaveareferralpacket,anAdmissionsAgreementsignedbySARC,the conservators,theclientandtheadministrator,andeveryoneagreesthatthere arenochangesinneedssincethecandidates originalassessment,thecandidate isinvitedtojointhecommunityandarrangementsforwhatisknownasa307day trialperiodaremade.thisisinessenceanadmissionwiththefirstmonth regardedasatesttoseeifyourfamilymemberiscomfortableandappropriate withinourcommunitysetting. STEP6:Reviewofthe30daytrialperiod 1. SARCrequiresawrittenreportafter30days,orinthecaseofanSLS placementanisp(individualserviceplan)isdueatthistime.inaddition,a reviewmeetingisconductedafterthe307dayplacementandinvolvesthe client,sarcservicecoordinator,conservatororfamilymemberofclient, theadmissionsdirector,theadministratorandourhousemanagers. 2. Oncewehavereachedadecision,theAdmissionsDirectorcontactsthe familyandtheregionalcenterandtheadministratorapprovesplacement. 3. Ifreviewispositive,theplacementiscontinuedandanynecessarychanges arearrangedwiththeregionalcenterand/orthefamily. 4. FormaladmissiontoCCCtakesplaceafterasuccessful307daytrial.Thetrial periodcanceaseatanytimeiftheindividualdoesnotwanttostayatccc,if thereareissuesofpersonalsafetyfortheindividualorotherfriendsinour care,orifitbecomesapparentthatwecannotmeettheneedsofthe individual.ifthistrialperiodisnotcompleted,theadmissionsprocesswill discontinueatthattime. Note:ForthosewhoarenotfundedthroughSARCbutwhowishtolife7shareas volunteersatcamphillcalifornia,privatearrangementscanbemade.camphill Californiawillworkdirectlywithfamiliestocreateamutuallyagreeduponprivate arrangement. 5
6 STEP7:ReviewsthroughouttheFirstYear(andongoing) TheAdmissionsDirectorwillcontinuetomonitorprogressforthefamilyandthe familymemberthroughoutthefirstyearandtheadministratorwillconduct quarterlyreviews.inslsquarterlyreviewsarealsorequired.formaldiscussions withthefamilywilloccur3,6and12monthsaftertheinitialadmissiondate.
