4 1 Introduction This document describes the Visocall IP interface to an IP-capable telephone system. 2 Functionality There are two areas in which a connection to a telephone system is necessary. (see figures 3.1 and 3.2) 2.1 PAT telephone function The PAT acts as a VOIP end device and can be incorporated using SIP and H.323. 5 Configuration in the telephone system: All PATs must be configured as SIP or H.323 end devices in the telephone system. The extension number must also be defined. It is also optionally possible to define a username and password for authentication purposes. Configuration in Visocall-IP: The PBX must be configured in the Visocall-IP system with the following data: IP address and address mask of the telephone system Gateway address if the telephone system is on another network and is reachable via a router Protocol used (SIP or H.323) All available extension numbers as necessary with assigned username and password (see telephone system configuration) The available extensions are then assigned to a PAT. This then logs in at the PBX, with its extension number, user name and password. (The extension number is usually also the username) Seite 5 von 8

7 Configuration in the telephone system: In the telephone system a SIP cross connection (also known as a SIP trunk) must be set up. The cross connection is necessary, as the V-Dect service has to send the Caller name and Caller number transparently to the end device. In the caller name, or the caller number, the event that has occurred is given, as well as the position in the nursecall system. Example: Text: Call St1 R2 or number: Optional: It can be defined whether the line needs to be registered with the PBX. This setting is recommended to also allow line monitoring in the PBX. Authentication data can be saved for the registration or for call connection. A username and a password must be entered for this purpose. Configuration in Visocall-IP: PBX data: IP address and address mask of the telephone system Gateway address if the telephone system is on another network and is reachable via a router SIP-Trunk: Name of the trunk Registration necessary in the telephone system Authentication data (username, password, realm) Displaying of text: The text is coded in UTF-8 format and therefore there should be no problems for VOIP devices to display this text correctly. The telephone system is responsible for forwarding the text to devices, which are not connected using the SIP protocol. (DECT, ISDN,...) Seite 7 von 8
