1 CENTER FOR CAREER AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ANNUAL CAREER FAIRS LIST This is a comprehensive, but non-exhaustive, list of conferences, job fairs and job banks that may be of interest to you. Additional opportunities may be posted on Symplicity, circulated via or listed on: PSJD.org ( General AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION LAW STUDENT DIVISION CAREER FAIR Every August, location varies The Career Fair, which takes place in conjunction with the ABA Annual Meeting, provides an opportunity for firms and agencies dedicated to the future of the legal profession to reach out to over 600 law student leaders from across the county. The program is structured as a table-talk event, providing employers the opportunity to speak one-on-one with law student attendees, finding the ideal candidates for their summer and associate positions. For more information go to Public Interest ANNUAL PUBLIC INTEREST CAREER RECEPTION AT NYC BAR ASSOCIATION Late August/Early September - NYC Bar Association, NY Law students from 23 area law schools have the opportunity to meet informally with representatives from many metro-new York area public interest and public sector organizations. This is a great opportunity to learn about potential employers for the summer and other volunteer opportunities. EQUAL JUSTICE WORKS CAREER FAIR Every October in the Metro DC area Sponsored by NALP and Equal Justice Works, this Fair is held every October and provides a unique opportunity for over 1,200 students and graduates from over 200 participating law schools to collect information and interview with recruiters from civil rights organizations, consumer and environmental advocates, government agencies, legal services offices and other representatives of the public interest law community. (1L s cannot interview at this job fair, but can participate in table talk for networking purposes.) Students and alumni interested in participating in this job fair must register with the PILC. A list of participating employers to whom you must write directly to request an interview at the Fair can be found at The PILC will pay the law school registration fee; no fee is charged to students. Students are responsible for travel expenses to Washington, DC; however, limited travel assistance is available from Equal Justice Works. Pre-registration opens in mid-august on the EJW website. For more information, see or the PILC. NYU PUBLIC INTEREST CAREER FAIR Every February - NYU Law School, NYC This two-day fair will be held in early February at NYU Law School in NYC. This fair gives employers the opportunity to meet with students and allows students to interview with employers for internships and permanent jobs, as well as to talk with employers at information tables. In addition to public interest organizations, District Attorneys offices and other public sector employers participate in the program. In 2013, more than 2,400 law students and representatives from over 200 organizations attended the Fair. Pace Law School and about 20 other northeastern law schools participate in the Fair. Resumes and choice sheets must be submitted by each student to employers selected via a special URL that will be provided to students in December by PILC. Students will be able to access employer information and submit resumes directly to employers through this special URL. Registration will be due in December. For more information, go to

2 NORTHERN CALIFORNIA PUBLIC INTEREST/PUBLIC SECTOR LEGAL CAREERS DAY Every Winter - University of California Hastings College of the Law, San Francisco, CA The program is sponsored by the Consortium of Northern California Law Career Services Offices of several California law schools and OneJustice and held every winter. (Note that formal interviews are limited to students of sponsoring schools Pace is not a sponsoring school; meet the advocates (tabling) is open to all students/alumni of any school). For more information, visit Over 700 students and 100 public interest employers participate. Past participating advocates have included (among others): AIDS Legal Referral Panel, California Appellate Project, Center for Food Safety, Disability Rights Education & Defense Fund, California Coastal Commission, California Public Utilities Commission, Earthjustice, Housing and Economic Rights Advocates, Environmental Law Foundation, and Sierra Club. ANNUAL ROBERT M. COVER PUBLIC INTEREST RETREAT Winter - Peterborough, NH Every winter, public interest law students, professors, and practitioners gather at this Retreat to network, strategize and socialize. Information about the Retreat can be found on the Yale Law School website. and ANNUAL PUBLIC INTEREST ENVIRONMENTAL LAW CONFERENCE Every February/March - Eugene, OR The Public Interest Environmental Conference takes place every March and is an annual gathering for environmentalists worldwide, and is distinguished as the oldest and largest of its kind. The four-day conference historically unites more than 3,000 activists, attorneys, students, scientists, and concerned citizens from over 50 countries around the globe to share their experience and expertise. The Conference is organized solely by the volunteers of Land Air Water (LAW), a student environmental law society, and is sponsored by Friends of Land Air Water (FLAW), a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. The Conference includes over 125 panels, workshops, and multi-media presentations addressing a broad spectrum of environmental law and advocacy. Topics include: forest protection and ecological restoration, grazing and mining reform, labor and human rights, air and water pollution, Native American treaty rights, globalization and "free" trade, environmental justice, corporate responsibility, marine wilderness, international environmental law, water rights and dam removal, oil and gas litigation, genetic engineering, and urban growth. For more information see Diversity BOSTON LAWYERS GROUP STUDENTS OF COLOR JOB FAIR Every August/September Boston, MA The Boston Lawyers Group ( BLG ) hosts a Job Fair in Boston for law students of color (rising 2Ls) every August, registration opens in April. The deadline to register for the fairs is typically in early July. Students can register on Interviews for summer associate positions in the Boston area are based on employer preselections and lottery selections. COOK COUNTY BAR ASSOCIATION MINORITY JOB FAIR Every August Chicago, IL The CCBA Job Fair primarily is designed to obtain summer associate positions for rising 2Ls (current 1Ls) during their second summer in law school. Student registration begins in April/May. For more information, visit DELAWARE MINORITY JOB FAIR / PHILADELPHIA AREA DIVERSITY JOB FAIR Every August - Widener University School of Law, Wilmington, DE This Fair is sponsored by the Delaware State Bar Association and local legal employers for first-year or second-year minority law students who are interested in practicing in Delaware. Advanced registration (in May) via Symplicity is required. The Delaware Minority Job Fair differs from many other job fairs in that students must be invited to attend rather than simply registering and showing up. In return, the students invited receive considerably more individual attention than is possible in a very large job fair. When you submit an application for an invitation, you are, in effect, submitting an application to all of the Delaware legal employers who participate in the program. While minority students are the focus, all interested students can apply. Representatives from large, small and medium Delaware law firms, as well as public sector employers, including federal, state and local government, participate in this Fair. The Fair also provides an opportunity for students to learn about diversity in Delaware. The CCPD will circulate information in November. 3 DUPONT MINORITY JOB FAIR Every August Wilmington, DE, Houston, TX and Los Angeles, CA The Annual DuPont-sponsored Minority Job Fairs take place in August. Student registration is due in April. HEARTLAND DIVERSITY LEGAL JOB FAIR (HDLJF) Every August Kansas City, MO The HDLJF is the result of Kansas City s leading law firms, together with legal organizations, coming together to encourage law students from diverse backgrounds to practice law in Kansas City, MO. The HDLJF is designed to expose law students of diverse backgrounds to both the traditional and non-traditional legal employer. Current year graduates, students who will be returning to school in August and those graduating in May are eligible to attend the job fair, as employers will be interviewing for both summer and post-graduate positions. The job fair is free for students. Each year, Kansas City plays host to nearly 60 students from over 30 Law Schools from across the nation who have the opportunity to interview with over 15 area law firms, organizations and government agencies. Early bird registration usually ends in late May. Students can register on-line at and find more information about the Job Fair at HISPANIC NATIONAL BAR ASSOCIATION ANNUAL CONVENTION Every August Location varies This event gathers hundreds of attorneys, judges, and students for a four-day program featuring Continuing Legal Education panels with top legal experts, national policymakers and leaders, and pressing issues; networking events and workshops; the nation s largest Hispanic Career Fair with exhibits from prominent firms, companies, and government agencies; and fun social activities. IMPACT CAREER FAIR FOR LAW STUDENTS AND ATTORNEYS WITH DISABILITIES Every August Washington, DC Held every August, IMPACT is a nationwide career fair for law students and attorneys with disabilities INDIANAPOLIS BAR ASSOCIATION DIVERSITY JOB FAIR Every August, Indianapolis, IN This fair is sponsored by the Indianapolis Bar Association. Students in their second year can attend and apply for clerk or intern positions. The event hosts approximately employers ranging from large, medium and small firms to government agencies, corporations and members of the judiciary. For more information visit NATIONAL LGBT BAR ASSOCIATION LAVENDER LAW CAREER FAIR Every August Location varies Held every summer/fall, the Lavender Law Career Fair is designed to achieve a sense of community and inclusion for LGBT candidates within the legal profession's recruiting efforts. By participating in this career fair, candidates will talk directly to LGBT-friendly recruiters from law firms, government agencies, LGBT rights groups, and legal departments. Over 450 candidates and 150 recruiters representing private firms and public organizations from all over the country attend. MINNESOTA MINORITY RECRUITMENT CONFERENCE Every August - Minneapolis, MN The Recruitment Conference, which is sponsored by the Twin Cities Diversity in Practice, was designed to promote the efficient hiring of minority law students in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul) legal community. The conference is open to all second and third-year law students. On average, over 30 Minnesota law firms and state agencies recruit at the Conference attended by upwards of 100 students. Employers will be seeking students for summer and permanent positions. Online registration usually begins in May. For more information on this job fair and to register, go to NATIONAL ASIAN PACIFIC AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION (NAPABA) CONFERENCE Every November Location varies NAPABA s annual conference includes a job fair. 4 NATIONAL BLACK LAW STUDENTS ASSOCIATION The Association has regional chapters that host career fairs, for more information go to and see entry for the Northeast BLSA Job Fair below. NATIONAL BLACK PROSECUTORS ASSOCIATION (NBPA) Every July Location varies The NBPA holds its annual career fair every summer, as part of their multi-day Annual Conference. The goal of the NBPA Job Fair is to promote diversity in prosecutors offices by providing a forum where law students, recent law graduates, and experienced attorneys from across the nation can meet and interview with prospective prosecutorial employers at the local, state, and federal levels. For further information NYC METRO AREA LGBT LEGAL CAREER FAIR FOR FIRST YEAR LAW STUDENTS Held annually New York, NY Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender first-year law students are invited to attend a panel discussion on the topic of being out in the application process and as a new attorney. Student will also be invited to an information gathering session, where they will have the opportunity to meet informally with lawyers and recruiters from over 30 major area legal employers. Students are encouraged to bring their resumes and other application materials. For more information, go to NORTHEAST BLSA JOB FAIR This Fair is held every August and is open to students of color from over 30 participating law schools in the Northeast Region, including Pace. The student application form is due in the spring preceding each fall job fair. Please note: there is no general registration in the fall or on-site at the Job Fair. For further information contact the Black Law Student Association at Pace Law School, or visit the National Black Law Students Association at NORTHWEST MINORITY JOB FAIR Every August Seattle, WA The job fair provides employers with an opportunity to interview applicants from national and local law schools while offering law students a forum to interact with both potential employers and fellow students. The event is sponsored by a group of private and public sector employers. Student registration begins in July. Over 150 students attend, the majority of which are in their second year. Interviews are scheduled by lottery. Job Fair participants are also encouraged to attend the Fair luncheon featuring a local guest speaker. Please see website for more information REBELLIOUS LAWYERING CONFERENCE February Yale Law School The Rebellious Lawyering Conference is an annual gathering of law students, activists, and legal practitioners dedicated to legal work in the service of communities and social change movements and to challenging hierarchies of race, wealth, gender, and expertise within legal practice and education. Grounded in the spirit of Gerald Lopez's Rebellious Lawyering, the conference has been held for over twenty years and is the largest student-run public-interest law conference in the U.S. Registration is usually opens in mid-december. Registration is $30 and includes a happy hour on Friday and lunch on Saturday. (Registration is free for Yale, Quinnipiac, and UConn law students, and New Haven residents.) For law students wishing to attend who may otherwise find hotel costs prohibitive, the conference tries to coordinate housing with Yale Law student volunteers. See for more information. ROCKY MOUNTAIN DIVERSITY LEGAL CAREER FAIR Every August/September - Denver, CO This Fair takes place every year, with registration via Symplicity available from April to June. Legal employers attending the RMDLCF seek to hire law students and [recent] graduates from culturally diverse backgrounds that have been traditionally under-represented in the practice of law in the Rocky Mountain region, including law students and [recent] graduates who are ethnic or racial minorities and/or gay or lesbian. The Rocky Mountain Diversity Legal Career Fair allows legal employers to interview - at one time and in one location, second-year, third-year, and recent law school graduates. The goal of the fair is to promote a format that enables employers, including law firms of all sizes, major corporations, public interest organizations, the judiciary, and federal, state and local government agencies, to meet a diverse group of law students and recent law school graduates and to facilitate efficient hiring. Interviews will be granted through a prescreening process as well as by invitation during the event at the employers' option. Over 20 area employers participate. For more information, go to

5 THE ST. LOUIS DIVERSITY JOB FAIR Every August St. Louis, MO Registration and bidding can be completed at Second and third-year students may register and bid in May. Students can submit their information to up to 15 employers. Employers select up to 16 students and 10 alternates for interviews. Law firms, corporations and government agencies attend. For additional information regarding the fifth annual St. Louis Diversity Job Fair, please visit VAULT/MCCA LEGAL DIVERSITY CAREER FAIR Every Summer Washington, DC Vault has partnered with the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA), an advocate for increased diversity in the legal profession, to produce a legal diversity career fair for diverse law students and lateral associates. The event, featuring a career fair and panel discussions, brings together partners and recruiters from over 200 law firms, corporate counsel from some of America's largest corporations, lateral attorneys and law students from over 150 law schools, and members of minority law associations. Open to actively enrolled second- and third-year law students of all accredited law schools. Go to to register. Specialty Practice Areas AMERICAN INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAW ASSOCIATION JOB FAIR (AIPLA) Every October - Washington, DC This Fair is held every October in Washington, DC in connection with the AIPLA annual meeting. Membership in AIPLA is mandatory for participation. Application forms and more information can be found at LOYOLA UNIVERSITY CHICAGO SCHOOL OF LAW PATENT INTERVIEW PROGRAM Every August - Chicago, IL (**Note: registration closes in early Spring) This two-day interview program is open to law students across the nation who are interested in pursuing a career in patent law. First- and second-year day students and first-, second- and third-year evening students are invited to attend the job fair to seek prospective summer associate and entry-level positions. If you have an undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering or a technical science, you may want to consider registering for the program. The program gives qualified students from across the country the opportunity to interview with patent law firms, as well as law firms, corporations, and government agencies with patent law departments. Over 125 employers from across the country participate, along with more than 1500 registered students from over 150 law schools. Online registration closes in March. Students are responsible for a nominal registration fee and travel expenses to Chicago.
