5 The Academic System The AIU follows the Credit Hour System, which is practiced widely in the United States and by most local and international universities. This system is comparable to the "European Credit Transfer System", known as (ECTS). 9 - May

6 Arab International University AIU has been established in 2001 by a consortium of academic figures, businessmen and professionals. It was founded by the presidential decree No. 193 dated May, 5th Started with the faculties of Pharmacy, IT Engineering and Business faculty. More faculties were opened later sequentially; Civil Engineering, Architecture Engineering and Fine Art. Both Faculties of International relations and Faculty of Tourism & Hotel Management are to open in Each department has a partnership with a European University, which guarantees students to transfer their credits to the partner 9 - May University to continue their studies. 6

7 Academic Programs Our academic programs serve two specific goals. 1) They give students technical knowledge and understanding. 2) They do so in a social and professional context, so that students can better apply their competencies and navigate ethical challenges. Our curriculum balances skills and knowledge and emphasizes the creative use of both. Our hope is to produce graduates of competence, 9 - Ma ay performance and conscience. 7

9 The Future and Accreditation The AIU is licensed officially by the Ministry of Higher Education of the Syrian Arab Republic. The Ministry has recognized the University's programs in Pharmacy, Business Administration, Engineering, and Fine Arts. As for the teinternational a accreditation, the teuniversity has signed sg edcooperation o agreements with over 20 reputable European universities. External examiners from our partner universities will be responsible for quality control in teaching and training. These agreements allow AIU graduates to pursue their studies in our partner universities abroad Ma ay

15 Performance Development at AIU Regarding performance development the following are the projects AIU had been dedicated on: 1- DAAD Funded d Project with ihmartin Luther-University i Hll Halle- Wittenberg (MLU); which is concerned with quality standards. 2- TEMPUS Structural Measures Project (SM). 17 Internship Program The AIU internship program is totally committed to offer exceptional opportunities for undergraduate students who wish to experience the real business life while pursuing a businessrelated career in Syrian business market. Delivering programs and providing coaching on job search skills, resume development, and interview techniques.
