2 James Casey Dear Sir / Madam I am a professional Language, Media Studies, ICT, Art and Computing Teacher. I am currently seeking full or part time employment in Chiang Mai, where I am hoping to find my home. I have experience working in various teaching environments including Primary, Secondary, FE and HE and have been teaching professionally for nearly 20 years. Born British English, I have spent my career working in London, New York, Barcelona, and Melbourne. Primarily, my work took place in the digital media sector where I operated as a senior creative and educator specialising in digital media and production. Upon my return to the UK I qualified as a CertTESOL teacher whilst simultaneously working in various schools running workshops, INSET days and helping schools in the subject areas of ICT, Design and Media Studies. Director, The Design Group, Barcelona The Design Group, Barcelona was a web design and animation studio specialising in producing web solutions, Commercial Photography and 3D visualisation for small and medium sized businesses. Network manager, Internet Exchange Europe, Barcelona From 2002 to 2004 the network of public access facilities operated by Simply Internet was the largest across Europe. I relocated to Barcelona to produce, configure and manage the web and advertising content for the network. Freelance Visualisation Artist I spent many years worked as a visualisation artist specialising in architectural concepts and interactive kiosk content. Web content and UI Designer, Simply Internet Ltd, London My team created the interfaces for web and proprietary platforms, 3d visualisation for proposals and content for Advertising campaigns. Panellist, Chips with Everything, Sky TV I was a panellist on the technology current affairs show hosted by Kate Russell on Sky TV. Summer 1998 Operations Manager, Simply Internet Ltd, London I created operations systems and guidelines whilst interviewing and training our employees to a standard, providing a high standard of customer support mixed with technical ability New York City NYC was one of the worlds First public Internet and event facilities. 4 Educational Projects Facilitator, elev8careers In this role, I facilitated large numbers of secondary students in this independently operated careers fair EFL (CertTESOL) Language Teacher, LSI Following my CertTESOL qualification, I went on to work in various British Council language schools across the UK. Media Studies & ICT Teacher, Hampstead School Since 2011 I have been a regular teacher and contributor to the ICT and media studies departments at Hampstead School, London. Projects included INSET for teachers, One to One sessions with students and running workshops. Facilitator, Moulscomb Primary School In this re-occuring role, I worked with the local historical archive (The Keep, Sussex) and Moulscomb primary school to re-create historically themed photographs with pupils, teachers and parents. Media Support Facilitator, The University of Brighton I worked at Brighton University in the media centre for 3 years. My roles were teaching Photoshop, Premiere and other digital arts tools. Freelance Educator, Art@Work 2014 In this project, we worked with secondary school students to explore concepts of identity, family and community through the theme of the family portrait. Working collaboratively with each other and teachers the practitioners are delivering a programme of workshops, visits and talks that enable students from both academies to respond to the theme using photography and a range of digital media. Freelance Educator, Creative Cafe As a regular contributor to the creative cafe, I have delivered workshops around media studies, graphic design, film making, computing and games design. Freelance Educator, Hove Park School 2013 A selection of Year 10 & 12 art students have been given the opportunity to work with visiting artists to explore the concept of the family portrait as part of their art coursework. We started to look at ideas of status and how that can be communicated compositionally. Freelance Educator, The Keep 2014 Using green-screen composition combined with historical photographs and props, I worked with the local students and teachers to create a fun and educational way to time travel.
