GENERAL INFORMATION Race date: Sunday November 16th, 2014 Start Time: 07:00 am Race closure: 12:00 Starting point and finish line: Paseo del Prado between Teniente Rey and San Jose (Front of the Capitol) Limit of Participants: 5,000 runners Race heats: Marathon, ½ Marathon &10k. Note: The race will have three modes in the Disabilities categories. 2. RACE BIB PICK-UP ATTENTION INTERNATIONAL PARTICIPANTS: International runners registered to race in Marabana must pick up their Racing bib in Hotel Melía Cohiba (PASEO e/ 1ra y 3ra., La Habana, Cuba), in Salón Corona A during the following days and hours: Friday, November 14th from 9:00am-8:00pm Saturday, November 15th from 9:00am-8:00pm IMPORTANT: In order to pick up your racing bib you will need to present a valid form of official identification (passport or drivers license). RACE COURSE INFORMATION The marathon and half marathon circuit is certified by AIMS / IAAF as 21 kilometers and meters, matching from start and finish, so performing it twice equals the distance of 42km and 195 meters. 3 5. ARRIVING IN CUBA - Visas: Runners will need to obtain a Tourist Card from the Cuban Consulate. - Cost: 25 CUC - Money: The Cuban Convertible Peso is the currency of Cuba. 6. TRANSPORTS - From the airport to the hotel: We recommend taking a cab from the airport to the hotel. - Transportation within the city: Taxis are the best type of transport within Cuba for getting around the city. 7. TIME LIMIT ON RACES To ensure the smooth running of the race and the city of Habana afterwards, the time limits for the races are as follows: - The half marathon has a 3 hour limit, until 10:00 AM - The marathon has a 5 hour limit, until 12:00 PM 8. For more information on OASIS points, see the course plan downloadable in pdf format MEDICAL ADVICE TO RUN IN HAVANA The Medical Directorate Marabana has 25 years of experiencing working with the premise to protect the health of the runners. Due to the tropical climate prevailing in high temperature and high moisture, the council suggests: 1. If you have a medical condition, please seek the permission of your general practitioner, just as we ask our doctors to report and specialists on documents issued by your doctor about it, which will allow us to ensure efficient and effective assistance. 2. Participate in the distance for that is well trained for. Too much for your body and you will endanger your health, regardless of age and disposition. 3. The day before the race drink lots of water and eat energy foods rich in carbohydrates such as pasta. 4. Do not drink alcohol in the days before the race as these dehydrate and alter your energy level and metabolism adversely. 5. During the race drink plenty of fluids, take water at every aid station even if not thirsty. 6. Wear a cap during the race as that would significantly reduce the effects of sunlight on your body. 7. Wear cool, preferably cotton or high in this, that allows perspiration without difficulty and also you do not find points of friction in the armpits and thighs. 8. We recommend using a lubricant if physical chafing occurs on the thighs and armpits. 9. Do not wear new shoes on race day however good it may be, as this can cause blisters and injuries. 10. CLIMATE DURING RACE WEEK The Cuban capital, in November, is characterized by the predominance of warm days with little temperature variation.
