Support, motivation and progress Throughout your course your progress will be monitored regularly and recorded in your Individual Student Record. Meetings with your teacher will identify key areas for improvement and keep you focused, while progress tests will help maintain your motivation and show when you are ready to advance to the next level. A record of your achievement Upon satisfactory completion of your course you will receive the Kaplan course certificate detailing your level of proficiency in the English language. Such a record of your achievement will contribute to your academic or professional profile, providing documented proof of your improved language skills. 4 I

5 The chart below shows the progress you can make with a Kaplan language course. On arrival at your school you will be given a proficiency test to enable our staff to place you in the correct class for your level of language ability. Regular progress tests during the course will then allow your teachers to monitor your level of improvement. Typically, students on an Intensive English course take just ten weeks to progress from one language level to the next. Proficiency TOEFL ibt 92+, IELTS 7.5+, CPE, CEF C2, ALTE Level 5 You are very close to native speaker fluency and can handle all complex written and spoken language. Advanced TOEFL ibt 75-91, IELTS 6.5/7.0, CAE, CEF C1, ALTE Level 4 You communicate confidently and fluently, but may lack specialist vocabulary and make some errors with complex language. Higher Intermediate TOEFL ibt 55-74, IELTS 5.0/6.0, FCE, CEF B2, ALTE Level 3 You are competent with grammar and can understand and contribute to most conversations on familiar topics, but may make some mistakes. Intermediate TOEFL ibt 37-54, IELTS 4.0/4.5, PET, CEF B1, ALTE Level 2 You can talk about everyday matters but with a limited range of style and expression. You read and write fluently about familiar topics. Lower Intermediate TOEFL ibt 13-36, IELTS 3.0, KET, CEF A2, ALTE Level 1 You can write and speak in familiar situations and have a fair knowledge of grammar, but your vocabulary is limited. Elementary TOEFL ibt 0-12, CEF A1, ALTE Breakthrough Level You can use and recognise common words and greetings and simple instructions but you have limited grammatical knowledge. GMAT preparation for international students The GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) is a requirement for all students wanting to study for an MBA in the USA.
