Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences Bangalore Faculty of Hospitality Management and Catering Technology (FHMCT) M.S.Ramaiah College of Hotel Management established in 1993 has become a constituent faculty known as Faculty of Hospitality Management and Catering Technology of M.S. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (FHMCT-MSRUAS), a Private University established in Karnataka since the academic year The University is sponsored by the prestigious M.S. Ramaiah group of educational institutions known for its academic excellence and social commitment of creating responsible citizens with humane values. Situated in the heart of Bangalore the FHMCT- MSRUAS is renowned for its cosmopolitan culture, multilingual population and long tradition of hospitality management education. All the courses in Hospitality Management and Catering Technology have been designed based on successful programmes offered by reputed Hospitality Schools and Universities in the West as well as in the East. The curriculum offered is outcome based and helps students to develop critical thinking, creative and innovative abilities and to imbibe relevant practical skills for a smooth transition from academics to the real life work environment. Students gain experience in dealing with real life situations and problem solving skills through assignments, role plays and student centric participatory learning. Over the last several years, students have consistently proved to be the best by securing First Ranks and Gold Medals in the University Exams. At FHMCT- MSRUAS each subject is specifically designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills critical to a successful career in the hospitality industry. Dean's Message The hospitality industry encompasses a diversity of fields within the service industry such as hotels, resorts, restaurants, event planning, theme parks, facility management and others from the tourism industry. Hospitality Management not only concerns accommodation and food and beverage services but also covers areas like meetings and events, gaming, entertainment and recreation and tourism services. In such a broad based industry, career opportunities are extensive. As the hotel and hospitality industry moves increasingly from a skill-based to a knowledge based industry, higher learning has become increasingly critical to opening career doors and helping managers to be more fully attuned to the culture, services and competitive aspects of the sector. Hence this program is ideal for people who are mobile and free spirited and eager for new experiences and cultures. The Hospitality Management Program delves into international hotel operations management, technological applications in hospitality management and large scale services management, as well as small business operations.

2 Departments and Academic Programmes Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM) 4- Year (8-Semesters) The Undergraduate Programme in Hotel Management aims to impart knowledge and skills for the hospitality industries coupled with general education. The combination of core education and general education provides a broad base of knowledge essential for hospitality industry. The graduates produced are able to meet the human resources requirement of hospitality industry, or take entrepreneurial route for their career advancement. The programme acts as a primary course to develop expertise in a chosen domain and also explore multiple options in the hospitality sector. Industrial Training To enhance the effectiveness of classroom learning, students are exposed to hands-on practical learning which reflects the real-life working experience as part of the curriculum. Each student undergoes an intensive industrial training program spanning 15 weeks at well known establishments in the hospitality industry in India or abroad. MBA in Hospitality Management 2- Year (Full Time- Modular) The Masters Programme in Hospitality Management is designed to impart to the students a high-order overview in the chosen subject area besides equipping them with. Advanced knowledge and understanding in the chosen area of specialization; Higher order critical, analytical, innovative and problem solving skills, and Ability to think rigorously, independently; and possess transferable skills in the respective areas. The postgraduates find higher level opportunities in hospitality and tourism industry and take up entrepreneurships. With experience, they are able to execute top level managerial responsibilities in the preferred career paths. 3 Research and Collaboration: The faculty of FHMCT-MSRUAS undertakes various research activities in hospitality and allied areas. FHMCT has done product research using sun-flower seeds in Bakery and Confectionery in collaboration with the Department of Food Science and Nutrition, University of Agricultural Science, GKVK, Bangalore. The Faculty has an International Collaboration with COFOP- Swiss Institute of Hospitality for faculty exchange program. Conferences and Publications The faculty publishes research papers and articles in various national and International Journals and conducts Conferences, Seminars, and Workshops and make contributions to the ISBN Publication of the Faculty. The Faculty has authored books on Food & Beverage Service and Management, Housekeeping Operations & Management, Marketing of Hospitality and Tourism Services, Financial Accounting for Hotels, Cost and Financial Management for Hotels published by Jaico Books and Tata McGraw Hill.

4 International Internship The FHMCT-MSRUAS provides opportunity for students to take up International Internships during their course in places like Vatel- France. Students are placed for internship in Europe, USA, Australia and the Middle East.
