12 Foreign Languages Placement Tests You want to register for a language course and have pre-knowledge in this language? If yes, you have to go to a placement test for this language at the Language Center. There is no registration needed for the placement tests. Applicants from within the European Union: You do not need a German health insurance policy. Your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is valid and sufficient. You have to order the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) from your insurance company in your home country well in advance. After your arrival, you need to contact a German health insurance company to provide you with a confirmation that you are insured. Applicants from outside the European Union: For you, a German statutory health insurance policy is mandatory. After your arrival in Frankfurt (Oder) you have to conclude such a policy with a German health insurance company. Accident Insurance As a student, you will be insured by statutory accident insurance. This includes your presence at the university as well as your way to and from university.
