MATH COMPETITION RESULTS Congratulations to our fourth grade students who participated in the district math competition (BCCTM). They placed fourth in the individual competition and placed second in the team competition that also included several private schools. The students, Michael German, Jamze Sabdul, Luke Samuel and Armando Miller will be recognized at a ceremony at Plantation High School this month. We would like to extend a great big thank you to Mrs. Moorman who coordinated and prepared our math team for this event. Way to go!! FCAT WRITING TEST RESULTS Congratulations to our fourth grade teachers and students for the outstanding job on the FCAT Writing test. The overall results were exceptional and we are so proud of our fourth grade students. The school will receive the hard copy individual test results sometime in the end of May and we will also advise parents when they can access these results online. Additional information will be forthcoming. SMART SUMMER TUTORIALS SMaRT summer math and reading tutorials will be available from May 23, 2011 through July 15, Please see the attached information on how to access the online tutorials. The student needs to have their 10-digit identification number (student number) and the 4-digit school number is 0711.

2 PTA NEWS Election of officers for the school year will be held on Monday May 23, 2011 at 6:30 pm in the cafeteria. The date for submission of Nomination forms has been extended until May 12th. If you have misplaced your form, you can print one from the school website at or pick one up from the office. KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION Registration for Kindergarten started May 1, Your child must be 5 years old by September 1, 2011 to qualify for the school year. When registering, please bring the following: 2 proofs of residence (this could be a bill, rent receipt, lease, driver s license, etc.) Official Birth Certificate Evidence of a medical examination performed within twelve months of August 22, 2011 Florida Certificate of Immunization (Form DH 680) HELP US In order to help us begin planning for next year, please call the office if you are planning to move out of Orange Brook school boundaries. If you are moving and require your child(ren) s records, please provide the office with 1-2 days notice in order to prepare the paperwork. Please ask for Mrs. Lewis or Mrs. Montgomery. Thank you for your help in this matter. UNIFORM DONATIONS If you would like to donate your students used or outgrown school uniforms so we can replenish our supply we are currently accepting donations. Students can bring them in a plastic bag marked donated uniforms and send them to the office. In addition, if your child has borrowed uniforms from the office we would appreciate if you would return them after they are cleaned. Your assistance and donations would be greatly appreciated. PAPA JOHNS NIGHT May 12 th is our next Papa Johns Night so please plan to have dinner at Papa Johns. Our area Papa Johns location is 4309 Hollywood Boulevard for walk in orders or for delivery. When ordering just mention Orange Brook Elementary and your child s teacher. Every dollar that is spent by Orange Brook families will result in a 15% donation to our school and the class with the most participation will win a pizza party. We encourage you to support our Partner and our school. LOST & FOUND Parents ~ Please have your child look for lost items of clothing in the lost and found box located on the stage in the cafeteria. We have many items in the lost and found box. All items not picked up by will be donated to charity.
