2 2 Files on MS BL 2.1 E-account Beamline Experiment Accounts (SLS Network) Mount the e-account on windows explorer 1. Open windows explorer. 2. Type address: \\slsfs01\winconfpub\beamlinelogon\x04sa login with your e-account and password (or slsuser pw: SLS_user). 3. Click on your e-account. 4. A new window will show up and you have to type your password. 5. Click <ENTER>. 6. Connection to your e-account is done Connect e-account with Linux 1. Open shell and type: blmount x04sa exxxx (where exxxx is your eaccount number) 2. Type your password. 3. Your eaccount is now mounted as /sls/x04sa/data/x04sa/slsbl/x04sa/exxxx. 4. cd /sls/x04sa/data/x04sa/slsbl/x04sa/exxxx. 2.2 X04SA public folder Path on Linux: /sls/x04sa/data/es2/now/ Connect X04SA public folder on windows 1. Open windows explorer. 2. Use the Map Network Drive function from the Tool menu 3. Choose a drive (e.g. Z: ) 4. Type the following path in the folder entry \\x04sa\x04sa_public 5. Then click on Connecting with a different username 6. A second window will show up and you have to type your e-account as user and then your password. 7. Click <OK> and then <Finish>. 8. 3 3 Data transfer and backup 3.1 FTP data transfer FTP transfer with windows 1. Open windows explorer or a browser. 2. Type ftp.psi.ch. 3. Choose PSI_outgoing. 4. Create a new folder. 5. Copy your data to the folder. FTP transfer with Linux 1. Open a terminal 2. Type ftp ftp.psi.ch 3. User: anonymous, pw: psi or your 4. cd PSI_outgoing 5. Create a new folder 6. Copy the files in the folder How to get files via ftp from home institution? 1. Open windows explorer or a browser. 2. Type ftp.psi.ch. 3. Choose PSI_outgoing. 4. Choose your folder. 5. 5 5 Copy to disk 5.1 Burn CD or DVD You can burn a CD or DVD on the multimedia station in control room 2. See manual as PDF on Firewire disk Portable Firewire and USB2.0 disks can be connected to the Windows XP media station. Connect your disk to the multimedia station in control room 2. 6 6 Connect laptop to PSI network How to connect laptop to PSI network? (Windows, Mac and Linux) 6.1 With cable Connect your laptop with the PSI network cable on the desk. You should enable DHCP to get a PSI TCP/IP address regardless of what host name you choose. Make sure that your Laptop supports SMB (SAMBA) for mounting your data from the fileserver Windows How to setup your Windows (XP) Laptop/PC for use at PSI Linux DHCP Setup for LINUX Users Mac 6.2 Wireless network (WLAN) WLAN according to the b standard is also available at SLS. The default channel is 6 and the SSID is: wsla-public, but doesn't have to be specified. Note: In Windows XP you'll need to manually enable unencrypted WLAN networks, before they can be used.
