9 Topic description WASTE : A systems approach for the reduction, recycling and reuse of food Why? Specific challenge: Food waste has taken on disquieting proportions worldwide in all steps of the food production and supply chain but especially at consumer level... Scope: Actions should both address approaches to reducing food waste and packaging materials generated at relevant stages of the food system and investigate ways of converting food waste into value-added by-products... A database/inventory should be developed of recyclable materials, valuable molecules, substances and materials originating from waste and by-products Solid involvement of social sciences and humanities and civil society is a prerequisite Expected impact: A significant contribution to achieving the European policy target of reducing food waste by 50% by 2030 An increase in the competitiveness of the European food and drink and chemical industry, in particular SMEs Type of project, budget? BONL A Dutch SME, developing, engineering and producing 3 brands of agricultural machinery, is looking for (an) agent(s) in the onion and potato regions of Germany. A Dutch SME, established by seasoned engineers and owner of three brands of agricultural machinery, has developed very functional, hard wearing and easy to use onion loaders, onion toppers, onion harvesters, potato harvesters, potato toppers and discharge conveyors. They are successful in their home market, and have occasionally sold onion and potato machinery in Germany and Austria. They feel that they should have a solid presence in the onion and potato regions of Germany, and are therefor looking for (an) agent(s) within the frame of a commercial agency agreement to represent them in these markets. The company is established by seasoned engineers who have implemented all the lessons learned in their previous experiences. The resulting machinery is therefor very functional, hard wearing and easy to use.
