24 Food security and sustainable agriculture: Phosphorus use issues in the EU Knowledge, tools, services and innovations to support more productive, environmentally-friendly resource-efficient and resilient agriculture and forestry, supply sufficient food, feed, biomass and other raw-materials and deliver ecosystems services. Enhance productivity and the adaptive capacity of plants, animals and production systems to cope with rapidly changing environmental/climatic conditions and scarce natural resources. Move towards a low energy, low emission and low waste economy, and to reduced natural resources demand and reduce food losses along the entire food and feed supply chain. Use of biomass and byproducts from agriculture and forestry for a wide range of non-food applications. Multi-disciplinary approaches to improve the performance of plants, animals, micro-organisms, while ensuring efficient resource use (water, land, soil, nutrients, energy and other inputs) and the ecological integrity of rural areas. Opportunities for rural communities for primary production and delivery of eco-systems services, production of new and diversified products (food, feed, materials, energy), low-carbon short-chain delivery systems Cohesion of rural areas to prevent economic and social marginalisation, resource management

25 Climate change, resource efficiency and raw materials: Phosphorus use issues in the EU Sustainable supply of non-energy and non-agricultural raw materials, knowledge base on raw materials and develop innovative solutions for the cost-effective and environmentally friendly exploration, extraction, processing, re-use, recycling and recovery of raw materials Promote the sustainable supply and use of raw materials, including mineral resources, from land and sea, covering exploration, extraction, processing, re-use, recycling and recovery Find alternatives for critical raw materials Improve societal awareness and skills on raw materials Enabling the transition towards a green economy and society through eco-innovation

26 Budget project costs H2020 Maximum of 100% of the total eligible costs (except close to market actions: 70%) Indirect eligible costs: a flat rate of 25% of direct eligible costs Project Coordination: Direct costs 100%+ flat rate 25% (in KP7 was 60%)

27 Horizon 2020 Time line Since 30/11/11: EP and Council negotiate on EC proposal 2013: around April last calls FP7 Since end 2012 trilateral negotiations in process: MS-EP-EC budget (budget Horizon 2020) By end 2013: Adoption of legislative acts by Parliament and Council on Horizon /1/2014: Start Horizon 2020; launch of first calls
