2 AdI Agência de Inovação AdI is the Portuguese national agency essentially dedicated to the promotion of innovation and technological development with a view to facilitating closer ties between research activities and the Portuguese business sector. State-owned agency funded by the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of the Economy and Employment.

4 Define Innovation OECD Definition (Oslo Manual)...implementation of a product, a service or a process, new or significantly improved, a new marketing method, or a new organizational method in commercial activities, workplace or external relations.

5 4 Types of Innovation Product Innovation 1. A new product/service that is new or significantly improved. This includes technical specifications, components and materials, incorporated software, user friendliness or other functional characteristics;

6 4 Types of Innovation Process Innovation 2. Involves a new or significantly improved production or delivery method. This includes significant changes in techniques, equipment and/or software.

7 4 Types of Innovation Marketing Innovation 3. Involves a new marketing method having significant changes in product design or packaging, product placement, product promotion or pricing.

8 4 Types of Innovation Organizational Innovation 4. Involves introducing a new organisational method in the firm s business practices, workplace organisation or external relations. These innovations can be new to the firm or institution, new to the market/sector or new to the world.
