5 Boosting local growth Decentralized energy supply: kick-start for investments and innovation. Local authorities need to adapt and assume a new role as facilitators in the energy transition process and Climate Alliance can help this process. 11 Climate Alliance and the Covenant of Mayors Textmasterformat Climate Alliance has been engaged in the Covenant of Mayors initiative since its start in in 2008 when the Commission DG ENERGY decided Dritte to endorse Ebene and support local and regional authorities in the fight Vierte against Ebene climate change. Climate Alliance runs the CoMO office in partnership with four local government networks as well as its branch office (CoMO-EAST) for Neighborhood countries, Southern Caucasus and Central Asia regions.
